help with picture attachments

Please keep in mind I am not very computer literate....but could somebody please walk me through the process of placing a picture with my text. A jpeg, am I limited to file size?

I have been unsuccesful with my attemps so far, and yes, I followed the directions ( I think) in the FAQs.
