Just a note..
When I bought my '98 Steamer...USED..
I thought... service on this will be a nightmare!

But I did get a little wise....
On the BIG Triumph Tiger board... I started printing off all the
'how too' and part numbers stuff; 3-hole punching it and placed it in a
3-ring binder categorized by 'area'  ( suspension, brakes, chain, electric, etc).

After 4 years I had a very nice library of information. When I sold my bike... I sold that binder for a reasonable price and I am certain that whoever has it now has added to it. It was better than the Triumph manual!

MIRRORS

Today I found some mirrors at my local shop that were $13 each and fit perfectly.  Round mirrors though, which to me don't look as cool as the rectangular ones.

BikeMaster Part No: 60-0040

The dude at the shop said they were a "standard 10mm thread".

17-inch Wire-Spoke Wheels

For anyone who can't or won't spend Dymag money this company will lace 17" rims on your Tiger hubs,i had a pair done by them some years back and they worked fine, just wanted less hassle(i never had any) with tubeless wheels.

1993-1998 Tiger rear wheel bearings

You need 1 of each bearing # and they can be purchased from McMaster Carr or just about any electric motor repair house

The bearing #'s are : 6204 rs , 6304 rs , 6305 rs
the rs simply means sealed bearing  .
the diff in price is extreme
Triumph gets about $30 a bearing
McMaster Carr $30 will buy all three
the McMaster Carr p/n's are
5972k45  $7.72    same as 6204 rs
5972k56   $12.03   same as 6304 rs
5972k57   $12.87    same as 6305 rs

Front Brake Pads, Girly Wire-Spoke Wheels

Tiger 885i brake pads are also as fitted to Honda 750 Shadows.

Found that out in France, not as many Triumph dealers as Honda ones!

I believe those will also work on... Steamers,  Front, VIN 71699+; Front and Rear All Wire-Spoke Girlies; and the Fronts of Cast-Wheel Girlies as well...    -Stretch

Just a note...

I recently purchased one of the 955i service manuals off E-bay listed as Speed Wrench.

This is a very nice manual. It is the Triumph manual with some additional
info. What I like about it.... nice vinyl flexible covers.

At $29 delivered it's a bargain.

I'd be interested in taking a look.. Any more for sale? A quick search didn't reveal any manuals other than the Haynes.

Here's a cap that fits and works
<CLICK HERE>

Radiator Cap

The Triumph caps are prone to weakening before their time, allowing vapor and coolant to escape, resulting in an overly hot Tiger.

The Triumph caps are $19 at a dealer, IF they have one in stock.

ArizonaKid discovered that a Stant 10227 radiator cap, a replacement for 80's Toyotas (as well as 1988-91 Honda Civic), is a perfect fit for a Tiger, available at auto parts stores 'round the world.  About $7.

Edit for a new development:

Quote from: walker

The stant 10227 (replaced by the newer 11227) is only a 13 psi cap. A good replacement might be the 11233 - it's 16 PSI, which is right at the 1.1 BAR that triumph specifies.

Same dimensions, just a different main spring.

To add...

Coolant Expansion Tube Elbows

Quote from: "swamper650"In conversation with a fellow local Tiger rider, discoverd his elbow failed while on the road in Murphy a year ago. I wanted to affect a permanent solution.  Have found a brass fitting to replace the failure prone 90 degree elbow in the Girly's coolant recovery. I was rooting around at my local Home Depot. In the plumbing section I discovered  a Qestpex 3/8 barbed brass elbow, part # 084169484406, priced at $1.59. Works a treat and will never fail.

Word is that the FZ1 shifter rubber will fit the Tiger Girly (+ others?).  I looked at one in the showroom the other day and it looked dead on.  Part number is 5EB-18113-00-00 and I have one on order.  Don't know how my got shreaded so bad in 5K miles.
