LED BULBS[/size]

Reposted from MtheTigers post in Idiot lights.............................

Easy & simple......Just buy white T6.5 LEDs from the bay with Paypal and stick 'm in. Use the superbright ones (seller = Warden as I remember correctly). No more dim idiot lights.

....and while U' re in there replace all the other ones also EXCEPT the low fuel indicator ' cause this one don't work with LEDs.

The bulbs for your instrument gauges can be replaced with ultrabright T10 LEDS. I used the sparky blue ones 'cause my Tigger is blue....very nice indeed !!!

I also replaced my rear/brake light and indicators with LEDS from superbright leds. LEDs draw only a fraction of the power needed for bulbs (1/10th or so). Because my headlights are the only bulbs left on the bike they get an voltage increase of a few % because of the LED conversion. This will let them shine MUCH more bright because the relation between voltage and light (lumen) output is not lineair.

For the indicators you need the High Power 4Watt 1156 bulbs in AMBER.

Always use the same color LEDs as the lens cover color.

(IMPORTANT: LEDs only work when put in the right way round....so if your LED's don't light up turn 'm round 180 degrees)

You also need this flasher relay for the LED indicator lamps ( not  the idiot light but the actual LED Blinker)

How do you replace outer turn signal lights with streamline LED's and who makes them?

Any thing special needed to b?e installed?

Gungho1989

just purchased the indicators, and idiot lights, not sure about the instrument lights though don't read German real well, ok at all,  :(
 How many do I need?

Whew online translator and probably too much in shipping but I have all lights now on the way.

Replaced all the indicator lights with the Amber bulbs recommended, ended up without any indicators at all. Put the standard bulbs back in for now,

 What did I miss?

Never mind found the answer, (IMPORTANT: LEDs only work when put in the right way round....so if your LED's don't light up turn 'm round 180 degrees)
This was in the original thread but omitted from the Copy and paste.  :P

Well got home last night put an LED indicator back in even flipped it still no worky on the Indicator.
Does the 95 need a Resistor installed?

Indicator relays often need the load (resistance) provided by the indicator bulbs to make them work properly. Change the bulbs and they won't work properly... that may be the problem, and if it is you would need to replace the relay with a solid sate (electronic) one that doesn't rely on the bulb resistance to work.

That is the case indeed. Sorry, I forgot to add this mod in my post.
Then it works a treat. No seperate resistors needed.

Just curious, why doesn't the fuel indicator work with LEDs?  Does it never get hot enough?

You need a load resistor - pretty much like you would with indicators.  I did consider doing this, but it was just too much hassle to bother :)
