Yeeep.

Coming down Mt Rose Higway. Front wheel washed out and next thing i know i hit the road on my left side and start sliding on my ass down the road, Tiger sliding in front of me..ah, good times.

Shockingly, there was absolutely no damage to the bike. None, zero, zip. It slid on the side where the centerstand extension thingy comes out. The combination of that + bars saved the bike. Figured must have slid a good 30 feet at least.

Exquisite timing on the centerstand installation.

Glad you're okay.

I know, right? It's ground up some, but still works fine. Gotta love sturdy German products.

I'm ticked off about my jacket though. The stitching on the forearm came apart on impact. If it was pure asphalt and not ice i think i'd be in search of some skin now. I took it back to my dealer and told 'em to give the company a little call. As far as i'm concerned, that's unacceptable. We're talking 25 mile an hour fall here. Am i exaggerating?

P.S. If anybody has a winter jacket they might not have used for a long long time, i accept charity.

I was within 100 yards of the top of North River road on snow and hit a section of ice and less the 1/2 a second I was picking the bike up.

Hey Stretch...so as not to hijack Zombie's thread, can you move the crash related stuff to the general forum? "Tigers hate ice" or something like that.

That's like insult to injury. Alcohol is your friend in this type of circumstance.

Usually, XL. Basic winter stuff really...bit of waterproofness, some armor, that kinda thing.

This is in case my jacket manufacturer says "screw you". Hopefully, they'll see that the seams are not supposed to come apart on impact. That's my view anyway. Thankfully, i'm ok (mostly) and the bike is fine, so the New Mexico ride for Spring Break is probably still on.

P.S. If your screen is FUBAR too, i have a CB #2 that i don't think i want.

You wouldn't possibly be bitching about that free jacket you got are ya?

Yup, took a fall.

And yes, the free jacket came apart at the seams.  :BangHead

In all fairness, the armor did its job, otherwise i'd be an elbow short right now. The forearm stitching...not so great. They're good people though and seem to care about their customers, so i won't rush to judgement yet.

Picked'er up, shifted good, rode down to Freedom Cycle to have her checked out. The guys were exceptional as always. Brad washed the bike and checked it...not a freakin scratch on the actual Tiger. Not one. Oh, and they changed out my scratched barend (previous drop) no charge.

So, wanna go for a ride?   (ouch ouch)

Apart from the f'd up jacket.

That situation has 3 weeks to resolve itself. I'm going on a trip for Spring Break dammit.

Got a pic of the disassembled arm stiching?  Just curious.

Going to NM with or without new brake pads, mang?

I don't think it matters too much either way, just planning.

Call me.

Just freakin came undone.

Pads...i called and checked. They have em. I was going to order on Friday but i fell and couldn't get up.

I'll place the order this week. Pencil me in some time for brake pads and brake fluid change. Danke.

Well, shit!  I wonder how the uber farkelisious RallyII would hold up in similar circumstances?  I don't hold out much more hope for that overpriced piece of BMW textile jewelery either.

Pads when you wanna do it.

I'm out later this week like Thursday thru Saturday, but good through the next Thursday.  After that in Little Rock for a few weeks, I think.

I think I'm headed toward NM April 14th thru 18th for a Chain Gang get-together.  May be pre-positioning bikes in Phoenix a few weeks prior, in case this fits your sched.  :D

Hm... Maybe I should try to have my pants replaced under warranty, because they didn't hold that well under pressure. :?

Yours looks more like it got eaten right through?

That, i wouldn't have minded at all. Those stitches came apart on impact on mine. I wasn't sure if i was overreacting and that's why i asked my dealer. He said that's not supposed to happen so i went with his recommendation that we contact the manufacturer about it. Honestly, i want to know if that's what's supposed to happen or not.

I figured if i was overreacting, you guys would set me straight.

Do you have any idea how many bad drivers we have here? The more visibility, the better. Call me Captain Dorkmeister.

So, naturally the company can't do anything about it since i...well, you know, crashed.

No biggie, took it to the local seamstress type person. It'll be fixed for a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new jacket. All's well that ends without broken bones.

Quote from: "JetdocX"Hey, post some pictures of the recently "modified" bike parts!

Uuuhh...the left crash bar's scratched and part of the centerstand extension foot thingy's been ground up to the point it folded. That's all really. I'll take a couple of pics in the morning, although you'll see it when we do the brakes.

Any ideas on how to re-touch the crash bars without turning the rest of the bike black?

I still can't believe the bike's in one piece. When i saw it sliding in front of me i thought the entire left side would be a goner.

Touch up is easy.  Just go on down to the local cage parts store and buy some Mexi-chrome.  We'll turn that slide into some bling!

Ca Stu put some sratches on the right side of mine.  I left them because I like the look and the scratches make the bike look like it's going really fast while on the centerstand.  But I digress.....

The tender and delicate Girly bike scratches should be fixed post-haste.

I can't believe you rode it home looking like that.  Sheesh!

So that's what a black hole looks like; appears to be a job for black duct tape. EDIT: Nevermind, apparently the duct tape solution has already been mentioned.

Shitski man, glad to hear bike and body are up and around.

If you are still looking for a seam repair, the shoe repair place by Trader Joes repairs fabric luggage, they can handle a little cordura.
