Title: What a Plonker!
Post by: Micko on September 02, 2014, 07:23:33 AM
A deserted car park off a minor road in Scotland at 8am Sunday morning. Didn't know what I was thinking of and feel a right pillock. Took a bit of lifting!

You're not alone  :icon_rolleyes: I just dropped the Thruxton before I even got out of the garage and couldn't get around the other side, had to use a ratchet strap onto the Rangie  :nap

Check your battery.  If it is not a sealed one then the electrolyte can spill out making the battery poor.

Go on, ask me how I now this... :icon_rolleyes:

And acid is not kind to various parts of the bike. Don't ask ME how I know!!

Umm....never thought of the battery and was just happy everything seemed to be working ok. Sounds like you both have experience of this sort of thing eh?!!

The other downside is that I showed the Mrs the photo and she says she's not getting back on the bike again if I can manage to drop it so easily. Every cloud.

Ta KK and good to hear it happens to others as well. Just heard from a mate on Facebook and he dropped his doing a u-turn with loads of people around and ended up blocking the road for a while until someone gave him a hand. Poor bugger!

Got reasonably chunky boots which protected my ankle so came off lightly as did the bike with only a few scratches to the LH pannier. Otherwise can't spot anything else so lucky.

Tigger sleepin club....like it but just don't want too many stars eh.

If there was an olympic games for tiger owners power-lifting a tiger back onto its wheels would definitely be an event.  This bloke is doing it wrong though...

Every time I get mine out of the garage, I have to wheel it across uneven grass, on a slight incline, heading for the concrete standing area, always a dicey maneuver. Dropped it a number of times, always try to aim for the grass

My Tiger took a tumble recently.

Tiger needed a bath. My front drive is quite sloped, so I backed the Tiger round the side of the garage up the front path (which is brick) and ever so slightly sloped.

So, I'm hosing the wheels and the bike moved a fraction. I didn't quite believe it and in the split second I took thinking about it the bike slid forward on the wet brick surface, side stand gave way and over she went. I tried to grab her from the wrong side, and put my back out.

I didn't get a photo of her down on her side - it was too depressing.

The moment you try and save it you are going to put your back out. If its over the point of no return all you can do is slow the fall so maybe it is better to let it down as gently as possible.

The real 'badge' for the sleeping tiger club should be a bloke holding is back being castigated by his wife.

Unless it is her that caused it to fall over by trying to get off before the pilot had secured and supported everything.... :nono
