Title: well the old girl now ticks over!!!!!!!

Finally got my 955 running right after much messing about rebuilding exploded stepper motor's etc, :BangHead I excepted what everybody was telling me gave up and bought a new stepper and balanced the throttle body's, I borrowed a set of vacuum gauges from work and a set of fuel line extenders from Chris Canning (big thanks to Chris) especially as Triumph quoted me £160.00 to do the job which actually took me less than 45 mins to do!! anyway they were way out, as soon as I got them some where near the tone of the engine changed the tick over picked up and I new ide cracked it, :icon_biggrin: I managed to get them spot on the bike now ticks over at around 1100ish with no hunting or stalling im well pleased with it......probably should of listened to every body back in early December!!! 
next job on the agenda get the map checked on ecu surprisingly Stafford Triumph quoted me just £25.00 to check and remap if needed, geezer reckons there are new maps available to make the older bikes run better on modern fuels which contain ethanol for 25 ripper ill give it a go.

Do tell us more whenever you get this done. There seem to be only the two basic maps available in TuneECU and while my bike is going reasonably well, I have removed the lambda, fitted the TOR and a fancy air cleaner (the greek one, can't remember the name) and from time to time run a tankful of BP's best through it with a dollop of Millers. So I'd be curious whether there might be an advantage with another tune as well.

Well done, and very interesting about the new maps, wouldnt have thought Triumph would bother with maps for the olduns.

Recently looked on the TuneEcu facebook page a while back & I'm sure I saw around 4/5 maps for the 995i.

I was going to post a message asking what each one was for but I've just had a look & I can't find any map files now.

Was saying to Tim on the phone today read somewhere years ago that Tune ECU did the maps in conjunction with Triumph they(Triumph)do not that have the ability to do such way to specialised.

Had mine stripped down today and rectified a few EeeeeEaaaw clangers i'd dropped it's the alzheimer's well that's the excuse i'm Sticking too  :icon_biggrin:

Had another look on TuneECU facebook page & found the files (was on mobile earlier & couldn't find them).

It seems that for the Tiger 955i (from VIN 206547) there are 6 different maps. I was only aware of the first two, so don't know what the other four are.

Amazing how instead of fiddling with jets etc, were now fumbling in the dark with laptops and connectivity...

74, 75, 76 & 77 are Brazil only maps (Probably for dodgy fuel)

20 is std Early, 21 is TORS early
72 is std Late, 73 is TORS late.

And that is how I remember it from 10 years back, 2 maps for each

In my case I just blame myself cuz i've Sat on my hands for 18 years,I dealt with it by going to a dealer but as the years have gone on become less and less of an option,plus In that time I learned to my cost that the latest wasn't always the best just moved problems else where in map and at a dealer there's no going back that is only an option with Tune ECU.

Just a minor detail  compared to discovering a couple of hundred VHS tapes that play really well on an old VHS recorder and old TV,try working out how to connect a VHS recorder to a smart TV.  :icon_scratch:

While i've A way to go with my current set up because the basic screen shot has changed as well but certainly good enough to find out what map is in the bike 10121,and while Bosted's bike runs as sweet as a nut the combo of the TOR map K+N and the air box mod makes a majority difference which can be seen in just revving the motor.

DNA is the Greek filter both Tim and I are fans he has such in his 1050 and I have them in my X/R and K12.

Yeah, and a company called Triumph Twin Power who sell the good Tune ECU cables also supply all sorts of stuff for the Hinkley Bonnevilles. They did quiet exhaustive testing on Air Filters and concluded that DNA pass more air than any other, its now all they sell.

And for those that might think this is a faff with the current blue tooth Tune ECU Tim can balance his injectors on his 1050 with his phone no screwdriver required  :icon_lol:

That would make sense, I'd heard that there were 'Brazil only' maps but had no idea what they were.

The guy I spoke to at Stafford triumph said if I was running the original map it would be way out of date as triumph were always releasing  updates back in the day which would be installed when they serviced the bike, trouble is because main dealer servicing was so expensive not many people botherd and self serviced so the updates were never installed. Some of the much later triumph updates were not really about performance but just to get the bikes to run on fuels containing ethanol,

Did removing the lambda sensor make any difference? did you remove it altogether with the blanking plate?

To be honest Tim I think he meant map updates as opposed to new maps, he mentioned updated original maps im not very clued up on any of the mapping talk but he seemed to know what he was on about.

Had to laff at that.....my phone does millions of things ill never use but try to get a good signal!!!!

I took out the plate in the air box if that's the one you mean. The bike starts, idles and runs cleanly, though although I haven't measured it accurately I think it's using a little more fuel.
