Mikuni spares in the UK

Although I've been working on an Aprillia recently the carb is not unlike those on a Steamer.  I found that Steve at

www.motocarb.co.uk

is really helpful. The carb I was working on wasn't listed on his website, but a quick email  established what was needed. Parts took three days because he didn't have them in stock and were cheaper than quoted.  He could be worth a look.

Might be worth a mention in the knowledge base for UK Steamer owners Mustang?

You beat me to it in as much as I was just about to ask about a reliable company to rebuild my spare set. Perhaps I should do it myself, good excuse to ask for an ultrasonic bath for Crimbo  :eusa_clap
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

I'd go for it.  I didn't have a manual when I stripped my friend's Steamer carbs so they were on and off the bike 4 or 5 times before I found all the nooks and crannies that need cleaning so when I did the Aprillia, there's a good PDF I used which was for the old 1980 Suzuki GS but was near enough.

Found it here: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=mikunit%20cv%20rebuild&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mtsac.edu%2F~cliff%2Fstorage%2Fgs%2FMikuni_BS-CV_Carburetor_Rebuild_Tutorial.pdf&ei=bdrMUO2tE8SZ0QWIpoCQCg&usg=AFQjCNHXGdOKyzTaT2J1dvRAW69dCpagJg&bvm=bv.1355325884,d.d2k

To clean galleries and the external brass tube for the cold start mechanism, I used a short length of tight-fitting plastic tube and a nozzle-type cap on my brake cleaner fluid aerosol.  The aerosol has enough pressure to blast the crud out and the brake cleaner is a good solvent.

I have a (there is no excuse for it) Suzuki  :pottytrain2 GSX early 90's era that has the same carbs as the Tigger. Suzi spares are marginally cheaper, but if you go to http://forum.oldskoolsuzuki.info there is a huge number of sad gits like me who go in for modifying old GSX-R's and this includes carb upgrades etc. One useful gem is a milled head for the main needles to stop the emulsion tube wear caused by those sloppy OEM plastic spacers succumbing to vibration etc.
Anyway, Suzuki offer spares and as the GSX still enjoys a big following, spares are more readily available.
