I've got my eye on a 2007 ABS, about 15 hours from here. I've negotiated a price of $7200, and found a one way ticket for $186.00
The bike has about 7500mi on it. It has had the head, pistons, sleeves, and rings replaced due to the piston recall of the early 2007's. Bike was burning oil and on inspection the sleeves were scored.
It's well farkled out. ABS, heated grips, hand gaurds, Vario screen, center stand, TOR exhaust, aftermarket top box. It would need panniers and a tank bag.
But I can't commit to it. I have the money and know I could sell my bike. But I don't know if I want to or not. I really don't know what the deal is. I test drove one last weekend at the Triumph Open House, and loved it!

Not!,
if you wanted the Roadie that much, you would have gone for it,i dont know how many bikes you have and if you want to keep the Girly?,
i would probably part ex the Girly for a newer Roadie,if you like the idea of having two bikes then the part ex isnt an option........................................or i could be taliking a load of Bollocks :D
What the "Cottage Burner" said, if you have to ask it probably hasn't grabbed your heart.
Much as I'd like to egg you on I couldn't forgive myself if you weren't entirely happy.
The Roadie is fun and a great bike ........ but just not in the same way, how Triumph managed to make a model that "evolved" but yet had completely different character in all three itterations is beyond me and no mean feat.

:ImaPoser :ImaPoser :ImaPoser It took me about 7 seconds!.
Thought that was North Wales...

"Tounge in cheek" glad you have a sense of humor :thumbsup
Not had a lot of opportunity do put serious miles on the Roadie but each time the fuel light comes on I have had to pinch myself that I had actually covered those miles in the time and in comfort, apart from the not so bad buffeting.
i went back and forth for at least couple of months last year before buying the roadie. bottom line was i don't do off road (gravel is not off road, just unpaved) and i had to have abs, so went with the roadie. i love it!
the buffeting is a somewhat personal thing, i found the helmet makes a world of difference but screen does contribute (as it does on the girlies). i run a cee baileys +4.5 euro for winter and a ZG touring for summer. both are substantially better for me (5'7" ish) than the stocker. helmets - just went to a shoei rf1100 which is awesome and i also find the kbc vr2r is very stable also, maybe even more than the shoei but it is the loudest i've ever ridden with (including a 3/4 hjc). the kbc ffr was the most unaerodynamic and the arai profile close behind, although the profile was at least very comfy......
my second ride was for 340 miles so yea, you can do big miles even at break in speeds. 3400 now a year later and have had a very light riding spring due to work and honey do list. hope to remedy that over rest of the summer..........
good luck with the decision
Quote from: "ccherry"due to work and honey do list. hope to remedy that over rest of the summer..........
Which one  ?
Honey Do is a new one on me but very apt.
Thanks guys... I'm getting ready to commit... but I think I'm holding out for some more stories and another night sleeping on it :)
SweetTT dreams
Deposit sent.
Well done that man... :thumbsup
We'll await the ride/delivery report.. :5moped

wooohooooo :eusa_dance
:new_popcornsmiley
lol... I don't drive out to pick it up until the 21st.
Until then I'm giving the Girly a long good-bye.
Thought you might keep it in Family... and upgrade for Patties Blast perhaps???
I'd like to but even lowing it an inch or two wouldn't put it low enough for her to feel secure on it.

:?: So let me get this straight...................you are going from a Tiger that burns oil to a 2007 that already has a history of burning oil ? Are u sure about this ?
Well that's why I created this post lol. I'm not sure at all. :BangHead
cheaper, newer, closer! (only a 10 hour drive back.... )

well, it's a dealer, so who knows what fees they would try to charge. Might not be ABS or have some of the other stuff, but so what?
factory bags and at least the center stand. Ad is also in cycletrader, but the mileage is listed about 1000 miles more (7700 or so). Talk them down! Offer cash!
That's a BIG so what. Those items are must have's, and buying without means the price would need to drop a lot more than $300 so that I could acquire them.
so talk them down some more! They might go down some - or might even give you a great offer on a trade in.... you never know!
the pannier kit is about a $1000 option once you get everything for it. Something else to consider - it's the only reason I mentioned it.... that, and it probably has it's motor intact
top box, heated grips, TOR would run $1000 I bet. About even there.... so the only difference would be does it have ABS, and the difference in price on the windscreen.... so tell them you're looking at one with more stuff, and ABS, and if they can come down $xxx then you'll do it.
Seemed like a reasonable deal to me, but I'm not buying it :D (got too many now).
Either way you'll have a new one soon!
ABS is also a must :)
Consider something other than the Triumph panniers. There are far better options.
Already bought a set of the OEM panniers. I'm sure there are better options, but I like the OEM look and fit.
You've got it now  :wav :worthless
LOL no I don't do anything in order....
I pick up the bike Saturday... We're leaving Friday morning to drive out to western CO.
Got the pannier infills today lol.
1 more sleep.
Hell of a trip. Picked it up in SE Colorado. Rode back over the Continental Divide. Some GREAT roads. Then I70 the rest of the way home.

I 70 as in Interstate 70 super slab highway ......as in no fun just boring mile munching road
LOL
Yes... I-70...
Straight flat slab... 70mph... covered in KS State Troopers doing nothing but running radar. I feel sorry for those guys. I know they have better things to be doing. Kansas's #1 revenue generating practice.
That said they never even blinked at us cruising +10 the whole way.
Who's to say the information in that "one pic" wasn't left over from the original owner? I'll never tell :)
But the other side of the pass where something like that might have been possible was one of the best rides of my life.

Never mind, just a poor attempt at humour
We all know that to do a170 you need a 'Bird.... 8)
lol...
The whole trip I saw 3 Bonnie's, 4 Sprint STs, and a T-Bird.
The rest were BMW 650, 800, 1200 GS's, mostly. Some sport cruises too. And a bunch of Gold Wings.
And just a couple Hardleys.
Then I got back into Kansas and saw about 4,244 Harleys before I stopped counting.
so??? how ya like it?
Loads of power and a very firm suspension.
Oh and a way high seat....which is fine for ya!!!! 8)
I'm lovin it. I'm not sure if the seat is any higher. But it is a hell of a lot easier to back into the garage than the Girly. Seat may be more narrow at the nose.
Haven't ridden much at night yet, and when I did I was stuck in my tinted visor. I've heard the headlight on the 1050 is crap.
I took corners on that bike at twice the speed I would have dared on my 955i. It was probably capable, it just didn't feel as confident... or I didn't as much as I do on the 1050.

Great stuff, except for the dipped beam, main is not bad. Adjusting it will get you a bit more but ultimately it's going to be an HID dipped at least or Aux Fog lamps to stop the buttock clench when you have to dip it in the twisties.
Nice EB, did you go in the Brit car so you could tow it home with the Tiger if you had too.....

You've got John Cleese worried
Quotedid you go in the Brit car so you could tow it home with the Tiger if you had too..... Laughing Laughing
Wot's with the Pom bashing, did one steal your tinnie
It's not as bad to move around as I expected, not difficult after a Vara
There's always a backup plan...
Crikey chasps, I thought at least 1 of you may have pointed out it wasn't really a British mot'a....
We're from the US. British... German... same same :)

In the same way that Oz doesn't really have a cricket team
Sorry for the HJ EB, still having fun :D
HJ away... this thread lost it's usefulness after the first few replies :D
Neither of them are British...
