Title: ArcticTiger's rides.
Post by: ArcticTiger on December 12, 2009, 11:19:13 PM
Here is my "new" 1998 British Racing Green Tiger.
I bought it this summer and it had only 14000 kms on it. Actually a virgin!
I have put an aditional 5000 kms of fun and joy on it so far.

Narvik  8)  Lovely example.

How do you manage to squeeze the ZZ top inside the Airoh, I have to keep mine short just to get some air flow

:D Thanks for the welcome guys! :D

As to color, it definately has the right one, theres nothing like a Green Triumph!

Sin_: The ZZ comes in just fine in the nutshell, and keeps the airflow to a minimum.
Thats nice when you live and ride 300 kms north of the arctic circle, and an air temperature of 10C is  considered a nice summerday.

After a year with the -98 BRG Tiger, witch has been very nice and joyfull, something weird has happened.
On this forum I have read all the horror-stories about the Steamers, and seen all the horrible pictures of what can (will) happen in the future.... And all the work, money and skills required to bring it back to life again...
So far The Green one has only 21 000 trouble free kms on it, but I have started being afraid of using it any more.
And in the back of my head there has developed an idea of getting me a newer bike for daily use.
Soo, a couple days ago I stumbeled over this one, a -09 with 2606 kms on it, for a price that made it impossible to refuse. I will be picking it up in about 3 weeks :D !

Thank you guys! I will be picking up the new Tiger next week, on my way down to the Scandinavian Tiger Club Fall Meet 2010.

And I am of course not that "afraid" of using the Green One, just joking!
We have had some nice trips this summer, even if the summer has been cold, wet and short this year. We had the fall seasons first new snow in the mountains a couple days ago.

Here is a pic from this years first ride on may 9. Air temperature was 2 degrees C, the last nights snow had just melted away from the pavement. Pic is taken in Ballangen, 25 kms south of where I live. Road is main road E6, heading south.
We made 354 nice, fresh kms that day! :D

I am now back home again after 3 weeks and 3400 very nice kms with the -09 Tiger. And there is only one thing to say about it: What A Fantastic Bike :D !
Powerful (we dynoed it to 112 rear wheel hp/123 crankshaft hp), yet very smooth and controlable. You easily get a friend of this Tiger!

I bought the bike unseen, witch was a bit scary but the deal was very good. The Bike was as nice as it could be. As new. Included was Triumph sidebags, TomTom GPS, ABS brakes, Arrow power silencer.

The only "complaint" I had to give to the seller, was that he when selling the bike, had not informed me that  in addition to the above mentioned extras, it had heated grips, a Triumph magnetic base tankbag and a luggage rack/platform(not even mounted yet). That was the only surprise!

cool! you got extra stuff at that price!

I think I'd really like one of those, but need to wait until they get a little less expensive.... maybe when the new one comes out, people will want to sell theirs at a nice price :)

looks like a wonderful place to ride as well.

This years Tiger-season has started here in Northern Norway. After a long, awful, cold, snowy dark winter it was good to be back on Tiger-wheels again! It is still early spring here, but the weather was good last sunday, so I made a 650 km daytrip on the Green One :D
Here seen by the mountain "Stetinden" (Anvil of the Gods) witch is 1392 meters high. http://www.stetind.nu/ (http://www.stetind.nu/)

The Ducati has its history, and it will stay.
It was my brothers last bike, he bought it new in -06 and got 2 wonderful years on it. He loved riding that bike. He passed away in a work accident 2,5 years ago, and as being his only family, it became my responsibility to take care of his bike.

Its time to update this thread with some more pics of this summers rides. We have had a fairly nice summer this year, so its been lots of ridin.

This summer they repaved the main road E6 by our home, this is the wiew from our access to the road. So now its not a Tiger-trail any more. But it still has the great twisties! Photo is taken at 23.45 oclock.

On one of my trips, I did a visit to my friend, who has owned his nice 1953 Triumph Tiger since -82!

Here is a pic of the Uglystrada. I dont use it much, although it is a very nice bike. It has Øhlins suspension front and rear. Engine upgrade kit and Termignoni exh is installed, engine gives 101,5 rear wheel hp on the dyno.
Pic is taken oct. 5 in Oslo, we see part of the city and the Oslo-fjord.

There has been some bike-ridin this summer, even if the weather hasnt been too nice. Lots of fog and rain. So its time for a little update here.
Last fall we purchased a small home in a cozy little town in central Wisconsin, where my wife has lots of relatives and good friends. We plan to stay there for extended periods in the years to come, so it was important for me to get a bike there.
Wisconsin home:

I ended up with a very nice -99 Moto Guzzi EV 11 California with just 13500 miles on it by the original owner, a retired gentleman in Connecticut. Its a nice "tractor-ish" bike, very suitable to cruise the Wisconsin backroads. It draws a crowd whereever I stop:

Back home in Norway I have been ridin my -09 1050 Tiger some 7000 kms so far this summer, and I must say that the more I ride it, the more I like it!
Here from a trip to Jølster in Western Norway:

From a trip to Andøya in Northern Norway:

And the ridin season isnt over yet

Here are som pics of one of my shorter rides, to the fjord Skjomen, witch is in my "backyard" Weather wasvery  nice, it was a pleasant ride, nice to remember now when its snowing and the days are short:

Today I started this years riding season. The weather was nice, but not very warm with wind and just +1C. So it was a short ride, just 60 kms. Nice to be on Tiger-wheeels again thoug :wave :wave

Here a couple pics from todays ride, it in my "backyard" Skjomen in Narvik, Norway:

It has been a late , cold spring up north, so not too much riding yet. Pic was taken on may 14 when we got a couple inches of snow. So I had to carry in some more firewood.
This winter I have changed the 1050 Tigers rear shock unit to a fully adjustable Øhlins unit. Expensive, but worth it! Especially when riding 2 up, witch the original unit didnt handle very well:

I have also this winter done some maintenance work to my new-to-me -00 Yamaha TT600R offroad bike. Its a light, fun bike with a torqy one-banger:

My oldest and youngest sons are also having fun on their bikes, one has a -96 Suzuki 1200 Bandit, the other a -13 KTM 690 R Duke:

Here is some pics from september -14, they are from a ride my wife and I did up in the Skjomen mountains, Narvik, Norway. Miles and miles of nicely maintained gravel roads. The highest point on the road is 1000 meters above sea level. It was one of the last days the area was accesible, one week later it was coverd in snow.
The 1050 Tiger isnt the best gravel bike, but its no problem going 70 km/hour safely:

The lake is regulated due to hydroelectric power production:

And some more pics from the same area, taken a couple years ago, we went on the 900 Tiger. The 3 first pics are from the 1000 meter above sea level place.
Wife is a breast cancer survivor, here she has just grown her new hair after finishing the chemo treatment:
