I used to use those...bit like having a brick in your ear though

Looks like the general feeling is against custom made and I dont want to waste my hard earned if they dont do the job.
I have found some UVEX plugs in another dept at work..green ones and pretty soft...rated up to 111 db. I will try them out on todays run, as its now Sunday.

In the days when I had a proper job and went to work every day   ,I did the health and safety and had the joys of trying different kinds of plugs and settled for the Max1,and then when the company closed the 1000 sets or so that was left fell into my bag  :D

These are really good ear plugs. Not cheap but very good noise reduction and comfort.

I just bought a box of these:

I use them all the time and thought I would buy big :)
The manufacturer claims the yellow ones provide the highest noise reduction of any foam ear plug.

I have tried custom made ear plugs and they kept falling out or not sealing the ear canal properly.  The "E-A-R Soft" are colour coded depending on how much noise they block and the foam I believe has different textures depending on the colour.

Great response..thanks. I used the UVEX green plugs and found them to be a nice fit due to them being both soft and on the slim side.
Noise reduction was acceptable, I did`nt feel any more fatigued by wearing them but the big plus was that my ears were`nt sore afterwards.
Very similar to CHL`s E.A.R.Softies by the look of them, more testing to be completed before a choise is made
