Being a bit new to Hinckley Triumphs, will the VIN number give me year of manufacture ?

on the headstock where the vin # is peened there is  label that is stuck on at the factory it has tire info and month and year of manufacture .

they are usually ayear different
example .....my 95 has a 9/94 manufacture date and my 96 has a 10/95 date  ad both 98's have a 1997 date
