Rookie Question Sorry! Should oil level be checked while on the center stand? What do you do if You don't have a center stand? Just installed the center stand no oil on the stick  :violent1.

Question 2. I wanted to do a search for this and was asked the question What was the first FI engine Triumph made? Sorry Iam not worthy  :notworthy :notworthy :notworthyI have no IDEA?

Mustang

off the centerstand............. on the wheels
bike held upright (not leaning)

it will read low if on the c stand

Question 2) Probably the T595 Daytona which confused people because it was a 955cc.
A mate of mine bought one new in 1996 and still has it with about 7000 miles on the clock, his daily ride is a 1968 T100 Tiger, I once rode to a bike show with him at 60MPH all the way, yes on the motorway, needless to say Ive never ridden with him since, Sorry Bill. And sorry BB, bit off topic, feel free to zap me :hat10

I've tried both and the difference is minimal - a couple of mm at the most. Plus I'm not strong / agile / deft enough to hold the bike vertical whilst unscrewing / cleaning / screwing in / unscrewing the dipstick.....

On the stand is fine for me. Oh, BTW the oil just reaches the bottom of the hatched region (on mine at least) if I just rest the dipstick on top of the threads rather than screwing it in. Saves a bit of time but I expect all are slightly different.

This is exactly what I do. As Ian says, the difference between on and off the centre stand is hardly noticeable.
So basically, if it's on the stand and you unscrew the dipstick, rest it on the top without screwing it back in. If there's oil just about on the lower mark, you'll be fine.
