I can still do the 26-27th it just means I'll have to get the caravan ready during the week after work. I'm 90% sure I'll be there so put me down and I'll make a final decision when your booking B+B/camping places.

Brilliant, fingers crossed.

QuoteHi Sin, any clues as to where we're gonna be headed yet?

Are you thirsty already  :icon_mrgreen: I should be back in Jockistan next week, I'll have a chat with BB first rather than speculate on that  :icon_wink: North is the best I can do at the moment. The Haggi are still hibernating, don't want to wake them too early as they can get very grumpy  :sleepy1
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

"North" is good Sin, is the date now fixed in stone, talking of which would you guys like yours bring back  :augie

cheers Spud  :thumbsup

Sin_Tiger

Well I haven't noticed any changes to the poll recently so it looks like the 26-27th.

I'll be back in Jockistan in a couple of days and then start doing serious research, won't have to ask SWMBO twice  :icon_rolleyes:

Excellent.
I've been looking at how I'm getting to Scotland. At first I thought about coming up to meet Mat-tiger1 again but it looks better for me by far if I go up the A1 to Scotch Corner and from there go across the moors to get some nice roads in through Kielder Forest. I'm looking at two days from down here with an overnight maybe in Denholm at a pub that I've stayed in a couple of times before. Or Hawick. That does depend a bit on where the meet actually is.
So if anyone from the southern regions would like to meet at Scotch Corner and ride together from there, post it up or PM me.

:eusa_dance Looking good! Like Blacktiger says, once a venue is decided, plans for the journey up and meet-up places along route can be made! :wings
Hurry up home Sin, there's work to be done! :icon_lol: :icon_biggrin:
All the best, Mat-tiger1. 👍

I'm coming I'm coming, keep your kilt on.

Geoff W is in Durham and one of our newer members.

You could always take the road cross country A70 or meet up around Dumbarton if we go that way.

Hows about here:-
http://www.morefieldmotel.co.uk/Accommodation.html
& here:-
http://www.theargyllullapool.com/rooms.html
Both are in the current CAMRA Good Beer Guide. And, according to that guide, both do camping as well as rooms.
I have stayed at the Moorfield in 2009 to do the Scottish National Rally and it was OK.

Needs checking out because I don't see camping on those websites.

May be too far north?? :icon_scratch: However, being that close to the Highlands it's possible to do a route around the Highlands in a day. I know because I did it in 5&1/2 hours on the rally. Mind you, my average speeds were in the high 50s.  :augie

Haven't looked them up so you might be ahead of me here, but when Sin and I were chatting, we thought somewhere Fort William - ish would give us the option to decide at the very last minute whether to run the route east or west depending on the weather.  I had to do that last year because on the weekend we went, although we'd planned to do Applecross, it was pissing down on the West coast. We changed plan and had good sunshine by heading east.

Thanks for the suggestions, a couple I hadn't looked at.

As BB says, Fort William / Loch Ness side gives a better range of options. Applecross and Ullapool always get booked up really early and are not cheap options, although they do have great beer as you point out. The other thing to consider is enjoying a great ride rather than being tired after a long day in the saddle.

Problem with bunk houses is you need enough willing participants to make it worthwhile but I'm keeping an open mind for those that put their hands up.

We'll be doing the recce over the next couple of weeks, my wife thanks you for the added options to view / experience  :icon_rolleyes:
