So...

Replaced the RR this morning.
Applied myself,  everythink welded and shrink wrapped,  all nice and tidy.

Good news is,  voltage no longer fluctuate between 11v and 12.5.

Bad news is it dead steady at 12.9...

Gonna go shopping for a stator on ebay I guess.
Which jap bike stator is a drop in replacement again?

Btw,  read through the troubleshooting guide. Ohms winding to ground are all infinite.
Ohms between winding are all 0.8, dont know if that means anything.

I'm no expert but if all the windings are the same I would say then it's all working, OK 12.9 isn't great but is that at idle? If so what is it at say 3000rpm? And what is it with the lights on?

At speed,  lights on,  12.9
Stopped,  at idle,  lights on,  no brakes,  12.9
Dropps to 12.8 when brakes applied.

You are reading the voltage directly from the battery I take it? It can make quite a difference if you take a feed for a voltmeter from anywhere else in theloom.

PO had a voltmeter installed.
Maybe I should check with my multimeter besides that.

:nod use your multi meter directly to the battery posts for the most accurate reading of charging voltage  :thumbsup

Was going to do that this morning.
Found out my meter is fried...

Will stop by the store and get one. In the meantime I found a new stator on ebay.
It's on it's way. Worse case I have a spare.

Well darnit,  you guys were right!

Finally got to the store and got me a new multimeter.
Hooked it to the battery,  started up the bike.

Meter on the bike shows 12.8
Metter attached to the battery shows...
14.3

I guess that means I got myself a spare stator.

And possibly a spare RegRec too, probably wasnt much wrong with the old one if you add about 1.5v to each of its readings.

There may have been nothing much wrong with it, but being as it was an old SCR type RR that I replaced with a MOSFET, I don't regret making that upgrade.

Good point, the MOFSET RRs do seem to perform much better over time.
