I've removed and replaced the stator after having it re-wound, it's not that hard, but getting the crash bars off is a bastard!

I've found the stator ans a MOSFET r/r on electrexworld for under £200. Has anyone used these guys before? I don't want to be buying cheap and nasty parts!

Electrex World are top notch; got their bits in my Tiger and my Blackbird.

MOSFET Reg/rec with purple battery sensing wire; the dogs doodasss....

Battery:

Time to fit,  about 3 hrs going carefully and assuming you haven't done one before.

Order a stator cover gasket from Triumph or use silicone gasket either works, only thing that requires a little care is the oil seal.  The Haynes book of lies covers it.....  And you'll have a sense of accomplishment when you fix it yourself. :thumbsup

I've done the job before, so I should be good. Like I said, the worst bit is getting the crash bars off and I'll have to borrow some tools for that.

Cheers for the links, BB. Those were the parts I was looking at. The only problems is the r/r is showing as out of stock. I'll give them a ring on Monday and see if they can so anything.

Thanks again for all your help, I'll let you know how it goes!

I gave Electrex a ring this morning, and it's going to be "a long time" before they get the r/r back in stock. They said they have an alternate one, but it doesn't look like it's MOSFET...

I found this one on ebay, which some folks on another forum recommend:

Would this be any good? I realise there'll be some fettling to be done with the connectors, but it can't be that hard, right?

Bixxer Bob

It looks ok, and they say it's not Chinese which - from appearance anyway - suggests it's probably Shindengen.  The wring and fetling should fairly easy.  When I fitted my reg/rec I turned it through 90 degrees so the air flows through the fins instead of hitting them.

Well, the bits are all ordered with the exception of the gasket. I have to say, my wallet now hurts, but not as bad as it would have been from the triumph garage.

With the gasket, it is the same as the Daytona 955i? I've found one on eBay that's cheaper and with free p&p: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-daytona-955i-alternator-cover-gasket-/161587059464

Is there much difference between this and an official one?

Cheers!

Nothing that a little gasket goo won't sort.

Mr_J

After many monies spent, lots of swearing and several trips out to buy/borrow tools, the job is done!

I'm now getting 13.6v across the battery at idle with the lights on, which is good, right?

I also discovered and fixed a leak coming from the fuel sender, so that's a nice bonus.

Thanks to Bixxer Bob and everyone else who helped out with advice. It looks like I've got a happy Girly again!

Sin_Tiger

Always good to hear of a positive result  :thumbsup

If you buy this one there is a triumph part (cable and connectors) which makes it plug, dosent cost very much either.
