Which way round does the air filter go?

This may sound like a daft question, but I've taken mine out and now I am not sure which way round it goes back in, the haynes Manual is not clear (poor photo).

All I can find online is this picture. So I assume the "orange rubber" side faces the front of the bike??

Although it may "fit" both ways, one way will slide more easily- the rubber "gasket" side faces back towards the rider.
