Greetings all,
I could do with a bit of advice , i have a Tiger 955i 2001 vin no 132***. i have a k&N fitted for a year or more , & runs good , but i have recently acquired a TOR pipe (What does TOR stand for ??)
I would like to know which map to load when i fit the exhaust , i have searched & come to the conclusion that it is map -10121, but this is just for the can & not for the filter ! will it be ok ?
Also i have used tune ecu to diagnose & reset error codes , but iv'e never uploaded or downloaded a map before so i'm a bit wary of doing it so any advice would be most welcome ,! I have read as much as i can from the forum here but i still feel a bit bemused.
Thanks in advance

The fact you can read fault codes should mean your cable is good, so the only thing left is to make sure your battery is fully charged and to disable the headlights, your early bike might even have a headlight switch? 10121 sounds right, there were some custom tunes available at one time, I tried one in my first Tiger and it was ok, but god knows where you would find them these days.

Yes, I wonder if people are moving on from these older beasts, tempted by tech.  I still have my old behomoth but mostly riding a (slightly) more nimble 650 V- strom less fun, less character but more manageable.

When I bought my Tiger, the dealer threw in a TOR can and did the tune for it as part of the deal. Subsequently I fitted a DNA filter - similar to a K&N. I'm no expert but I believe the tune installed is one of the two which are listed for the Tiger on TuneECU site. The bike seems to run fine now irrespective of which filter or can I put on it !

That number rings a bell with me it's that bloody long ago can barely remember....

Any aftermarket filter will do the mod that makes the difference is knocking the blanking plate out of the Airbox there's plenty already on here about such with another tooth on the engine sprocket.

Thinks it's fairly quiet cuz most things have been covered the 955 Tiger is in that period of old banger and it'll still be some years before it converts to collectors item.

Oh yeah, and arent you meant to do the old "12 Minute Tune" after a new map

Cheers guys , my like button doesn't seem to be working , so thanks for the replies

Hi guys , i did the re-map everything seems ok , the only thing that baffles me is afterwards the "Reset adaptation "box never popped up i waited over 5 minutes ,i read somewhere that it depends on the make of ecu fitted ? anyway i went on to do the 12 minute thingy & it seems to run ok , has anyone else had the same issue ?
anyway i might go ahead & do the air box mod next & see if that makes a difference

From memory (& it's not as reliable as it used to be) for 955i Tigers with VIN up to 206546, you need to complete the 12 minute tune. From 206547 onwards, you can do the reset adaptation via TuneECU.

Yours, being an early 955 would need to do the 12 minute tune to reset everything, then when riding it, it will adapt to how you ride.

With a TOR pipe you should be running 10121 map. The standard map for your Tiger would have been 10120.
No matter how smart you are you can never convince someone stupid that they are stupid.

I dont think "Reset Adaptions" was ever a feature on 955's, think its actually 1050 with Keihin FI

Thanks Lee, & everyone thats put my mind at ease.
Does the like button not work on peoples posts anymore or is it my PC , i can't seem to "like" anyones comments

I wouldn't be too worried about the 'like' button so long as the bike is good, the important thing to remember the 955 has the Sagem system that is a law unto itself hence why Triumph ditched it in the end.

Quite a few of us have moved onto far more modern stuff, but i've Had mine 19 years this coming May stock it ain't but it still has its uses  :icon_biggrin:
