Like many 2022 has been a relatively sh#t year for me and my family, but not all bad and there are others much, much worse off.

Got a new job, quit after 4 weeks as it was not as advertised (since when does Learning adviser mean take an iPad around the factory floor & fake the results of a test to make sure everyone passes and all for £4k less than advertised?)
Did my first 3 weekend duties for the Lincs Blood Bikes
Had a few days in Devon visiting a close friend for her mothers annual birthday meal out
Got another new job, this time as a Learning specialist
Got heart issues (Still chasing that one up, but NHS strike delaying treatment)
Had a good holiday, 10 days in the Canaries doing nothing but eating & lounging in the sun - a few days out but this time not many
Cat died after picking up a virus whilst in the cattery
Was given a 'Barn find' Triumph Daytona
Laid up with Covid
Very close friend died - made me joint executor with an ex-girlfriend, she always did have a sense of humour
Car broke down on way home from Devon after visiting her mother.
Took car to garage. £10 part seemed to fix it.
Car broke down on way back to Devon for funeral. managed to limp it back home again. £10 part did not fix it after all.
Switched to Mrs L's car & set off for Devon again for funeral, reconnected with a few old friends
Bought another bike
Still suffering with after effects of Covid, after 3 months.
Spent Christmas with Mrs L's family, didn't want to be there as head not in the right space. Big family, 13 for Xmas dinner and their natural volume is 11

More down's then ups this year but looking forward to 2023 to hopefully get both head & heart fixed, going out on new bike, fixing old Daytona, more foreign holidays, taking Civil Service pension & going part time at work from May.

Here's to a better (much better I hope) 2023. :occasion14
Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?

Tiger-G

- Retired from the fire service three years ago aged 52, with the idea of never working again and enjoying life with nice bikes and cars.
- Just after retirement put the wheels in motion for a wrap round extension for the house.
- By the time I was ready to start the extension, covid kicked in.
- Sold my Tiger 955 due to an insecure wooden garage, it's age, and the extension getting done - no time to ride.
- Got f*cked over by someone who said they were the best builder in world...turns out they were full of shit and a complete Walter Mitty character !!
- Eventually got the extension started with proper builders, but costs spiralled, and it took over my life with me helping out every day physically, and project managing.
- Got that stressed over the extension one very physical time pressure day that I was carted off to hospital with a stress / anxiety attack....I thought I was dying, it was that bad. The stress has stayed with me ever since, anything to do with the house sets me off. I'd never understood mental issues in people, until it happened to me...now I know !!
- Once the builders finished the main build I have been finishing everything else off for the last year and it has consumed my life - plumbing, central heating, fitting kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, painting, etc, etc.
- Extension is now almost finished and a 70K extension has cost me 105K so far and counting - thanks covid !!
- So I've got no money left for a nice bike or a nice car, I'm skint and will have to get a job when I finally finish off the extension.

Although I still visit the forum every day, the chances of me being able to afford a second hand Tiger 1200 (10k +) is negligible.  Isn't life funny  :icon_sad:

Safe Riding.

Graeme.

I feel for you, I hope 2023 is the start of good things for you. I'm currently planning to semi-retire in May, the idea being a little more time to do the things I want to do.

First job, get the roof replaced, I'm sick of having to grab a bucket each time it rains.

By the way, if you want another 955i, I might be tempted to part with mine. It won't be anywhere close to a 1200, but would get you back on the road.

Stick with it pal, a good moan helps and you'd be in good company most of the time  ;)
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint
