And by the way, we are doing a weekend ride to San Felipe, Mexico (on the Sea of Cortez) next month in July.  Wanna go?

Quote from: "squarepeg"Joel, your story sounds very similar to mine.  My previous bike was an '05 Honda Shadow Aero (classic Black 'n Chrome, 3" HardKrome pipes... awesome bike!)

As much as I loved my Shadow I knew it just couldn't take me to the places I really wanted to go.

I did a side-by-side test ride of the Tiger and the 1200GS.  As impressive as the GS was, the Tiger won out for me with the combination of value and sheer fun-factor.

It took me a good three months to get use to my Tig.  Totally different riding position, learning how to corner, and just figuring out how to deal with all those revs!

Shifting gears and getting it into neutral was a big concern through the break-in:  it was just real stiff and hard to shift.  But all that went away fast after my 800 mi service.

I miss my Shadow a lot (did you keep yours??), but I have to say the Tiger has stepped-up the level of excitement and anticipation to my rides.

Have fun, Joel... you'll have a blast!

SP,

Very cool! Yes, I have my Aero still and I will keep it for a while. I fear that I will miss the low slung cruising at some point and might wish I had it. It has been a wonderful bike. There are several events around that are kinda "cruiser only" and I might still like to run in those. Also, all the $$$ I have wrapped up in accessories and tassled leather....I don't wanna give it all away

So far I have fallen right into the feel of controlling the Tiger. Gotta admit that I went out on loose sand yesterday down at the Arkansas river and WOOO...that was something to get used too. Heading back thru it a second time I had both feet down. Like riding thru pudding and that is a new feel to this old cruiser hound!

Thanks for sharing.
