Hi everyone,

give yourselves a pat on the back.

Have always admired the Tiger but it was always a bit out of my price range.

After riding an Enfield around India last year with the wife we decided we had to have a big traily again. Went for a Transalp as it was a great deal and a really good bike. Comfortable, reliable and pretty quick if given some stick.

The only thing was it was invisible, noone ever came over and looked or admired. Pretty shallow I know but important.

I had to have something huge and striking.

It was Beaky or a Tiger.

Thanks to this and another Tiger forum and two test rides I pick up a 2006 Tiger with only 3000 miles on it tommorrow.

Its in blue, if you see me in Blackburn with a stupid smile tarvelling towards Lancaster tommorrow night give me a wave.

Thanks for the info,

look forward to meeting some of you in the future.
Cheers (Drink Beer)

Hi mate, that's a funny name? Isn't a gimmer a sheep?

The Transalp was a tame beast compared to the Tiger! I ran Africa Twins for ten years and loved every minute of them. The twins have character. I loved my Hondas, even the Varadero, but must admit the Tiger is growing on me every day. I've now managed to touch down the footpegs,  this says a lot for the handling of the Triumph.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine, I'm off to Italy with mine next week so I'll post my findings after such a long journey on my return and let eveyone hear how I get on.

Welcome to the forum, I've picked up a lot of interesting facts from the guys here, from leaky luggage to ECU warning light issues.

Might see you o the road some time, certainly hope to hear from you on the forum, enjoy

Hi there,

I too hope you enjoy your Tiger as much as I've enjoyed mine.

They have loads of character and atitude too :!:

I'm just about to leave Tiger ownership, but for another Triumph :!:

They're underrated bikes by most people, BMW and KTM seem to grab the lime light, but I think that the Tiger is more 'real world' :?:

There are some very knowledgable and helpful people on this site, and you're in good company too :?:

Best regards,

Tiger Feet.
Four wheels good, two wheels better, three wheels accident!

Didn't know a gimmer was a sheep in your neck of the woods, down in Lancashire its more of a doddery old git. I work with a bunch of youngsters who think I'm past it at 45. Can still show them a clean pair of heels on the bike. I think us oldies have got  a bit more adventure about us as well.  The Transalp was a good bike, just a bit bland. Looking forward to getting some miles under the Tigers belt. Speak to you soon, enjoy Italy.

A good India sight, don't agree about the comment that most roads are free of potholes, the roads we were on were horendous, but excellant fun. The freedom on the roads, no rules, no codes and fear around every corner were ace. Looking forward to doing it again. Hired a scooter last time which was nearly as much fun.

Me an the misses took a TDM around Thailand, Laos and Cambodia earlier this year.  We had a great time but it just wasn't the same as an Enfield in India.  I guess we should go back one day :D

fancy Laos and Cambodia, mate of mine went out a few years ago and said it was awsome. Like the Indians they are obsessed with bikes. The look on their faces when you stop with a helmet that cost more than most of them earn in a year and let it slip that its a cheap open face that you picked up at home. Its very humbling.

Did you go with your wife, girlfriend, significant other and how did she find it. My missus can cope with most things but she does need a very small bit of civilisation and stability.

Cheers

There's Thai/Laos/Camb pics and blog type thing here:

Helen-the-misses goes everywhere with me.  Thai, Laos, Camb all pretty easy as we found good accommodation affordable.  The other link, for India/Enfield, further up this thread, is with Helen, too.

We'll have a flat in Bangkok from August this year so let me know if you need a put-up.
