Send your words of wisdom. Forgive my ignorance. I'm at the point that my 02 needs some attention. Chain and sprocket. :?:  When buying a new chain. Do I let the endless chain go and go to a master link type? Is the endless chain a factory deal? I've neglected the rear brake until the pad is pretty much gone. The disc is pretty cut up. Does anyone turn the discs or should I start over? I'm having trouble finding anyone to turn the disc. Is there a good web sight for brake parts, or is a dealer deal? I do everything I can to keep from giving the dealer my $. I've ordered new sprocket from sprocket specialist. I'm going to try the 19 tooth. I'm becoming very influenced and hopefully knowledgable from you all. Too many issues in the middle of the summer.

Thanks all,
Johnny G

1. Saw the endless chain off and replace it with a split one.  Replacing with a new endless means removing the swinging arm and you don't want that.  You can have a split chain with a soft-rivet link, you'll need two big hammers to do it with; or you can use a link with a cee-clip.  I use either.

2. Pretty much no one turns discs any more.  I let discs go thinner and thinner till it fails the MOT test.  I don't worry about grooves, pads will bed into the pits and troughs.

3. Last time I got pads was from Ebay.  I don't like EBC; I get Ferodo when I can but I may be old fashioned here.  I get tyres off Ebay, too.

4. Good luck.

1. Count the links on your chain  ... then order a DID Gold chain. You'll have to cut it ( removing links )

2. Get 2 new sprockets.

3. Get new rotors & pads.

I presume you'll be coming to the Tiger Ride-in at Durango, CO

You could get wavy rotors and do a test for the rest of us :D
