For those of you with no garage/short on time/nagging wife about parts everywhere/don't know a wrench from a hammer, if you brought your Tiger to a dealer for the 12k service, what did it cost you?

The very small dealer near where I live said "around $800" for my 05.    That seems very high to me.

I thought I read here some time ago that it should be around $600.

Any input?

If you are any bit mechanically inclined I would strip the bike down, do a lot of the work yourself and have the shop tackle the valves.  That should be 1/4 - 1/3 of your quoted price once you have the head exposed.

you should be able to do somethin on the list, tick it off and get the dealer to do what you can`t, that should get the price down a bit !!

I did my 24K for $180 in parts:

$48 Air Filter
$35 Fuel Filter  (BMW)
$33 Iridium plugs
$56 Oil & Filter ( Mobil 4T )
$7 Coolant

Triumph techs say 'change the chain at 24K' and that's about right. I had already put on a DID 530VM Gold  $200

I could have saved on oil & plugs... but the rest is tough.
The BMW fuel filter is about $8-$10 less than Triumph ( IDENTICAL )

Your 12K won't need a coolant change, fuel filter, or air filter ( they are good for 24,000). I'd look at the plugs and clean them.

I take it that's not including the the time /labor for the valves?
