Electrical Source connection via key ignition alternative???

Just a quick question regarding, finding another 12v source, just thought I would ask first before scouting for my own.

I saw the thread on using the rear tail light, however my 2002 has a light switch and even though I do leave it on, it can be turned off.

Going to install my autocom 7 communications and also got a permenant car bluetooth headset that auto connects when car is turned on, which I'm going to adapt to the comms unit

I wouldn't have thought of the brake light switch, thanks, will check it out.

Will be using a relay and fuse box, that way will only should ever need one supply.

The heated grips connector has both switched and unswitched power on it. I used it to connect ...my heated grips! With a relay, bien sur.

That does sound better, I take it the wiring is part of the harness even though I don't have heated grips. I plan on buying the tiger original ones online soon

Well if you have a switch I would presume that the input feed to that switch would be live with ign on  :icon_scratch

Most of the stuff actually switches on the negative side (its a safety thing), so you should be able to pick up a live wire fairly easily. Just make sure you put a fuse in the circuit you're adding... you don't want what you add to potentially take out (say) your brake light....

Well turns out the fuse box is under the seat (didn't know, lol) still learning about my new bike.

Anyway first bank of fused towards front of bike are all positive on with key, so didn't need to go very far to add fuse box and relay.

I have since changed the fuse box slightly so 2 fuses points has constant 12V supply as the bluetooth I was installing requires 2A of power to remember phone info and the rest are key switched power.

Looks nice Jas.  But just querrying... you say you need a 2amp always on supply for your BT??
2 Amps is high for BT, and if it's always on your battery is going to let you down... it will go flat overnight (or in a lot shorter time) at that rate.....

Yep, my mistake, I read that the 2A permenant on is only if your on phone (talking) when engine has turned off, not of memory, so the device actually powers itself off after 2 mins of inactivity
