Popping noise

Just got back from the MoT - it failed on a leaky fork seal. I'm happy with that given the age of the bike and it could have been a lot worse. Riding back from the test station, I noticed that the bike was popping a bit on overrun and occasionally in the lower rev range. I have no idea if that is a characteristic of the engine or indicates a problem?
Any thoughts

Popping on the overrun is precisely one of the very nice features about the Tigger, especially with racecans and in tunnels  8)  8)
No worries here mate just as long she doesn't pop from the carbs (gentle explosions between yer legs...).

Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?
