How about this then Chris, In the 80's I used to supply parts and stuff to a garage in S London called BWB Motors. They specialised in Citroen and the guys there had a 2CV Drag Racer that ran on meth, I kid you not.

An extra bit of pointless info, BWB's garage was part of what was left of the old Allard Motor Company, look em up, lovely old cars.

Is it really an adventure bike if its wheels never see dirt?

Aahh, not totally uniformed.  Tried to do the points on a 2CV once, seems the took a set of contact breakers and built a car around them.  That experience, added to forays into servicing Renaults and early Citroens let me to believe the French know nothing of designing in serviceability  :)

Anyway, back to the plot.  I'll PM BT and see about getting it booked.

There's something to be said about making a car LESS reliable.

I've called at midday today and he doesn't initially see a problem but he was busy at the bar and will call back.
I'm saying that some will turn up Friday evening and we'll all be going Sunday morning. :D

Quote from: "nickcalne"Don't know if a decision has been made yet.  But I forgot one major event that might be interesting if we meet on the right date. (23/7)

It's this....

http://calnebikes.freehostia.com/ Crappy website, but it's normally an interesting day. I did a topic thingy on it last year...

http://tigertriple.com/forum/index.php/topic,8212

There are normally stalls, autojumble stuff, a band or two, a trials bike exhibition and millions of bikes.

Calne is 15 miles from the Swan Inn.  One thing to bear i mind is that the traffic police will be out in force mind!  How many traffic police? Well, normally all of them, ever!

Interesting idea but personally, I'd rather go for a long ride and show people the sights around the whole district than just go and look at loads of bikes.
There's so much to see for those that haven't visited the area before. i.e Stone Henge, Cain Locks, Salisbury Plain, Gold Hill in Shaftsbury (Hovis adverts) plus the great scenery.
And, whilst the old bill are dealing with that lot in Calne, we can be ripping it up elsewhere.
Of course, there may be too many turn up for one ride out and we'll probably need to split up so most tastes can be catered for.

To be honest it's probably possible to do both fairly easily.  The furthest point you mention, Shaftesbury, is only 1hr ish away, stone henge and cain hill are (nearly) en route....Just depends what people wanna do.  (I'm easy- seen it all before, here to help really)

You could incorporate some of the following into the ride:

Avebury Stone Circle
Any number of White Horses
West Kennet Long Barrow
Any number of Bronze Age barrows
George White massive shop complex and factory outlet in Swindon.  The triumph dealer is next door btw. (one for Sunday on the way home?)
Blitzing over millions of byways on the Salisbury Plain
Iron Age Hillforts, we got lots.
Old Sarum in Salisbury.  (I fell off last time I went there though.  Mrs C not impressed)
Salisbury Cathedral

Or just getting on some big empty-ish road country roads and going for it.  We got lots.

Oh and we need a river fording moment don't we?
