Not a great video, but some info you can see: it will have a chain transmission, not a shaft like the beemer or the new Tenere.   :?  It also comes in a white van.

...hope its not as pricey as the Tenere..

27 days to the release of the first of the three  :new_popcornsmiley

So does that mean there will be two incarnations of the smaller bike and they will do a retro adventure job onthe 1050?

I couldn't tell from the clip if the motor was the big'n or not.

Anyway, great news!
Title:
Post by: Bixxer Bob on July 07, 2010, 11:31:27 PM
Having read the article, it seems the engine is much narrower than the 1050, as in the 675, but they suspect it'll be bored out for more power and torque.  I would guess around 800 to match the BMW.

I was going to test ride a Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX, but I think I can wait a while now we have something concrete to go on....
Title:
Post by: Nick Calne on July 07, 2010, 11:49:25 PM
If you subscribe to the link on the adventure website they tell you the engine will be revealed on 4th August.

Simply

Can't

Wait!

Is it OK to be this excited, if you're a grown man?

I hope it's still called a tiger--I'd hate to have to change the name of the site...

Geof

EDIT:  Though, just to be safe, I snagged triumphadv.com.
Title:
Post by: RT on July 08, 2010, 04:28:12 AM
Supposed to be two 800 cc.  One off road, the second dual sport.

in 2012 a 1200 cc shaft drive Tiger along with 1200 cc Trophy.

That's the info I heard based on last dealer meeting for what it's worth.
Title:
Post by: brad1098 on July 08, 2010, 05:29:54 AM
Good move on snaging Triumphadv.com

I think it will be a Triumph Adventure with the current 1050 as the Tiger.

At least thats what local dealer told me.......

The Trophy is coming back also to compete wit the RT's and ST's....course you already knew that.

I called at my local dealer an hour ago. In reply to a direct question, he told me it would be a 675, and it would appear in the autumn. We'll sell you one then, he said. He seemed quite definite about that (selling me one,I mean).
Title:
Post by: Advwannabe on July 25, 2010, 01:09:12 AM
Love it! Looks like the cast wheel version will still be 19"

Our local mag AMCN suggest the smaller of the two engines will be based on the 675 but displace 770cc. They don't quote their source.

They make an interesting point, probably based just on watching the adventure video, that the spoked wheel bike rolling down the ramp has a deeper engine note than the cast wheeled bike. This leads them to speculate that the spoked wheeled bike maybe has the 1050 donk? That doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, the more I see the more I like! Bring 'em on!

I would have been happy with a 675( w/ some low end get up) in a Girly chassis.

The articles in Cycle World and Motorcyclist are SPECULATIONS as to what the new bike will be.

They did the same thing with another dual sport... the Yamaha TDM1200 and the FJR1300...

The pictures in the magazine are NOTHING like that of the spy shots... it is a photo-shopped 675 front end onto a 1050 tiger...

The new bike looks MUCH MUCH MUCH more like a FG800 than the original tiger...

Which is badass.... I can't wait... I may have to trade in my 955.

Hey Howard,
We know secrets are difficult to keep, but we'll trust you with ours...
Adventure bikes have to carry out a whole range of roles with minimum fuss. That's why Triumph has been busy ensuring its latest pair of young cubs will set a new standard when they're introduced later this year.
We think a triple is the best configuration for an adventure bike. It's compact and has a natural character that ideally suits a wide range of duties. Our long stroke engine will deliver smooth, controllable torque for both tricky off-road riding and the urban jungle...but with the higher rpm characteristics that just devour on-road miles.
A triple is also more refined than a twin, which means that the bike is less tiring and less intrusive on the open road. So you can just relax and enjoy the trip.

 Continue the adventure

Keep your eye on your emails, we'll be in touch again soon.

WTF is going on?

someone on TRN said they were horrified(paraphrasing here) about the welded passenger pegs etc... I replied

____________

Slow down there bubba... ( it's a joke) me thinks you are getting way to wound up about this ...

A) the welds on this don't LOOK like good welds.. they look like " Hey, somebody finds some pegs and tack them on here".. it is a mule.. and test mules look like ticky tacky..

B) does anyone think they would really put out a bike with pegs that far outboard? (refer to test mule comment)

C) the whole point of this exercise is to see how wound up they can get you... the more noise you make, the better they are doing their job.... (refer to test mule)

D) by creating all this controversy, they further enhance the whole marketing effort, including pissing us all off for teasing too much and making us wait wait wait.. ( refer to test mule)

E) they are throwing falsies out there to confuse you and the competition... ( refer to test mule)

for anyone to say their new model is a game changer, lays down a gauntlet that they will either meet and triumph over, or crash and burn in a very big way... they aren;t schtupid ( I hope) and the ADV camp has some extremely well built and thought out machines, by people that have been building them for quite a while... Triumph has set their bar very high with this campaign, and if they do NOT meet the challenge the press and the competition will eat them for lunch.... not to mention what we will do.... lol
