... on the cheap.
I bought a bunch of these Caterpillar 8M4991 o-rings... UV-resistant yellow silicone rubber, these puppies won't get hard and slick like rubber o-rings do.

Thanks!
I just sent you $3 + an extra $1 for your trouble.
Tom
Very kind of you. Thanks.
On the way in today's mail.
Great deal Stretch. 8) I just ordered 4 via PP.
Either you stole these off a truck, or the local Cat dealer was trying to fund his retirement when I bought one at their parts depot last year.
The Cat dealers have a markup to keep the lights on, pay employees, and all that jazz. I'm just offering a public service to folks with great taste in motorcycles.
All I need is enough to reimburse me for the o-rings and the shipping that brought them here, the Paypal fees, and a stamp and envelope to send the fledgling o-rings out into the world.
Thanks for your order. They'll be going out in tomorrow's mail.
Thanks Stretch, I just sent ya some $. Ship me one when ya can.
I was able to get it in today's outgoing mail.
Thanks for your order.
:thumbsup
No, Thank You!
:rock

They're in Tuesday's outgoing mail.
Thanks!
Thanks for offering these up, Stretch!
paypal sent, $8 should cover two of them and shipping/finder's fee ;)
Thanks, Bro.
Going out in tomorrow's mail.
So........ do I understand it right. No addtional items needed, the ring just frictions on throttle grip? If so, I assume they will fit a Steamer as well.
The ring holds friction on the grip, and anchors itself (with friction) against the bar end. They'll fit nearly anything, really. If a bike doesn't have bar ends, the O-ring can fit in the gap between the grip and the throttle control housing.
Hi Stretch,
Mine arrived this morning, they look great 8) thanks.
jim.
Good! Buena suerte!

are those handguards from a GS? do you think they'd work on a steamer?
thx
I'd like to chime in to say that my "cruise control" worked beautifully on our trip down to the Ride-In in West Virginia a few weeks back.
Definitely something only for the open road when no one is around you, but it's perfect for that. I got a bit nervous around cars and would "disable" it when they were around me.
What a life-saver(hand-saver?) though!
Thanks again for offering these up Stretch!
Glad to help. My thanks to everyone for their interest in these.
There are still some left. :spam4
Quote from: "tgrrdr"are those handguards from a GS? do you think they'd work on a steamer?
Yep, for the R1150GS.
Hmm... I'm not sure about Steamer fitment. I don't recall seeing any Steamer riders commenting on trying them out.
Come on over, you can try mine and see if they fit. :friday
Yo Stretch, is your paypal set up to take credit cards? I just used the last of my paypal cash to buy some other Tiger related junque. 8) If not can you mail you a $5 bill for one of those condoms? I don't need my Girly getting all preggers on me.
Your Paypal account ought to be backed up with a credit card or bank account, so that purchases (with no cash in your Paypal account) come off that credit card or bank account.
If you want to snail-mail me cash, that'd be fine. I'll PM you my address.
I still have a few. Same price as listed in the initial post.
for some odd reason mine will not hold my throttle from slipping. Any ideas?
Maybe the installer is a twit? :o
Thas funny I was just getting ready to ask you where I could get soem of these, my last black o ring had cracked and broken...these work great...
I just paypal-ed you 6 bucks for 2 if I could please....

Oil or grease on the O-Ring and / or grip? Give both parts a wipedown with a clean rag and alcohol, acetone, lacquer thinner, etc.

Good. Thanks again.
my 82 year old mother in law looked at the yellow ring and asked why I didn't just cut the top off a condom and use that instead
Tell her your condoms are too big.
For the Sprint!
Paypal sent.
Thanks!
Got it, thank you. I was able to get it in this morning's outgoing mail.
Stretch, do you have any rings left? Grrrreat idea.
Yes, plenty.
Stretch: I just PayPal 'd you $10.00 for 3 of the little yellow circles. Please mail at your convenience, and thanks for providing the service!
---Jay
Got it. :thumbsup
Thanks for your order.
Hi Stretch

All the best
Pletdj
Got it, thank you. I'll have them in tomorrow's outgoing mail.
Thanks for your order. :thumbsup
Hi Stretch,
Received them tonight in the mail. Works great!!
Thanks again for a speedy transaction
!
Jeez... two weeks? I guess the Postal Services are still overwhelmed from the holidays.
Thanks for your order. :thumbsup
Actually it usually takes 3-4 weeks to get stuff up here in Canada from the States, so i was pretty happy with 2 weeks!
Stretch - you have paypal :D
I had one of these for my Dakar, but found that my aftermarket grips were a bit too soft for the o-ring to keep the throttle tube put. I'm thinking the firmer heated grips on the Tiger will hold up much better.
Thanks Stretch!
Still available.
Hey Stretch, got a couple left?
for 2... do you have them ribbed for her pleasure?

Yes. And no, just plain.
I may not use them for cruise control right away but I definitely want one when I go to balance the throttle bodies.
Ok, I gotta ping the wife on how to use our PayPal account but please set one aside for me.
Got them in the mail today. I think I saw these in a store kids are not allowed in... I mean in a magazine... that a friend gave me... that I thought was a Newsweek.
Thanks Stretch!
:thumbsup
PM sent.
Please disregard the PM. I must've sent you my addy after all as my ring showed up today. Thanks!
Ok, I gotta ask. I got my ring and slipped it over the bar end of my steamer. Apparently the gap between the bar end and the throttle grip is too wide and it falls between with nothing to grip onto. Am I missing something here? Is there an adjustment I can make?
I'm unfamiliar with the Steamer bar ends, sorry. Drop a PM to Mustang. He can field-strip a Steamer blindfolded.

On my previous Tiger which was a 98, I used the Yellow CAT o-ring before I put the NEP throttle lock on it. I don't recall having to do anything special to it, and I know that it had the factory grips and bar ends on it. You might try pulling the bar end off and see if you can stretch or slide the end of the grip out just a bit off of the sleeve. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you other than you may need a larger diameter O-ring.
Jason
This may not apply to a Steamer, but the Girly bar ends are two pieces, with a rubber isolator between the two. The interior sleeve (that the bolt goes through) can be moved back and forth within the outer piece.
Try pressing the inner sleeve in or out to change the clearance between the bar end and grip. Give it a squeeze with a C-clamp or in a vise.
Still a few left. 8)
just sent you some dough for a couple.
Got it, thank you. I'm at work today (24-hour shift), but I'll have them in tomorrow's outgoing mail.
:thumbsup
Still available.
I'll take one. I sent you a couple bucks extra. Treat yourself to a coffee on me. Thanks
Dave
Very kind of you, thank you. I'll have it in the mail tomorrow morning. :thumbsup
Recieved them last thursday. Thanks again stretch!
My pleasure. 8)
I have four left.
For anyone that's curious they work great on a steamer with stock grips and bar ends. And for the price and service they can't be beat!
Sold out.
Over the years, I had ordered a total of 40 o-rings, but you cats have them all now.
If anyone else wants to buy some, or even continue the distribution service (with a new thread), here's where I got them: http://www.dieselgaskets.com/prodwindow ... M4991&sc=N (http://www.dieselgaskets.com/prodwindow.php?item=8M4991&sc=N)
