Title: 955i skid plate
Post by: eurobykz on February 27, 2015, 02:45:06 AM
need to put some protection on tigger - touratech no longer supplies a skid plate for the 955i...    I've put on the thunderbike crashars from NZ.   I did find a long thread here on this forum with some pdf files of drawings for a skid plate but they were all .pdf files and the cutting shop needs .dwg or .dxf  ...     Anyone able to help me??

Send me your thunderbikes and I'll get you your files

:icon_mrgreen:

You could surely convert or just print out the pdf and then have them scan them in.

I got the files, on a speed stick, they are in autocad so *.dwg is not a problem, I think I also have them in solidworks format for flat sheet cutting and these can be sent as *stl or step files. If they are using Cnc or laser cutter.

Files are saved as metric or imperial - which is your preference

Pm me you email address.

I could use a custom skidplate.  I'd be interested to hear how yours turns out and whether the shop can do it again for me.  I'm sure there are other 955 drivers interested in this.

Guess I can take it to the local metal shop and see what they say about cost (they did a good job on a metal fix on the bike and the cost was great).  Imperial for me.  Pm incoming.

Thanks!

I have had three bash plates made to the supplied drawings, I wanted 10 but my Pal had to retire his CNC Press operator just as he started production, but he managed to make the parts for two in 2.2 mm polished stainless steel and a prototype in 2mm mild steel.
I would like to get my money back from these so will be putting the mild steel one and one of the stainless in the For Sale section. The stainless is something to behold, fully polished and plastic protected, the photos don't do them justice, if I had hair I could comb it in the reflection! I will not make any more as he no longer has the operator or machine! There are no brackets or fastener holes and the stainless one is 100mm longer than the drawings but easily adjusted with a grinder/cutter! The mild steel prototype is rusty and marked, has never been painted or protected but will paint easily, similarly it has no mounting holes or brackets, I'm making my brackets from stainless roofing restraints, cheap and pre drilled!

Daveb, I shot you a PM. I have a few slices of scrap 11 ga. stainless from that would work perfect for this.

Not sure of mounting it yet, nor if it will work with my crash bars. A bit of trial/error cutting welding and fitting is in order I think.

I've taken the liberty of deleting your email address, best not to have it available to A.T. Deaconharry  ;)

Better if you send Dave a PM.
