She's gone!

Picked up this morning and off to a new home in Shropshire. I'm told she won't be alone in her new home as the new owner has more than one bike.

I wished her well in her new home.

Excellent points! Thanks to both for your replies! Hopefully this may help someone else in the future.

Nursing your other half can be traumatic. My OH fell down the stairs just after Christmas (No, I didn't!) & broke her wrist. She's also waiting for a shoulder replacement which wen done, means another 8 weeks, so I've been home/domestic help for a few months now and it looks to continue for a while.

Still manage to get out on the bike but all work on Daysie (my 97 Daytona) has effectively stopped, and I've yet to even start planning my annual solo bike tour.

ECU and Fuel Injection / Re: Airbox Seam Vacuum Leak

Can't say I've had that problem with my 68k mile 06 Tiger, but then I've never looked too closely at the airbox either.

I too have an aftermarket can (Blueflame) with an updated map and she revs fine & idles steady. I would take a look next time I'm in the garage, but I sold her so she's off to pastures new on Friday.

ECU and Fuel Injection / Airbox Seam Vacuum Leak
Last post by TigerShark - April 21, 2025, 09:19:32 AM
Discovered this today and sealed the factory center seam where it wraps around the rear of the airbox on the downstream side of the air filter.

I would not have discovered this vacuum leak were it not for the slight accumulation of oily residue along that seam, residue made possible by the Uni Foam Filter Oil which I use.

My fix was to clean it well and apply Permatex 'The Right Stuff', filling in the outside of that seam.

The results? My 121,600 mile '06 Tiger with map 10173 and TOR exhaust has never run so well as the 50 miles I put on it this evening. The surging and inconsistent idle that have been present to some degree since I bought the bike in 2021 with 25,007 miles, are now gone.

In the past, I had successfully sealed the ECU line elbow to the leak-prone airbox grommet at the right rear, and I had double-stacked the IACV gaskets (with Hylomar Blue between) to seal up tight to the airbox (use a bright light from under the airbox while observing through the airbox slot).

Hope this tip about sealing that factory center seam on the airbox helps someone.

The final chapter!

For thge past few weeks Tallulah has been appearing on eBay, reviving her role as 'Bike for sale'. well today sShe finally sold, not for as much as I'd hoped but it was time to accept that the worth I put on her was probably not as realistic as I thought.

Anyway, beer tokens should appear in my bank account on Friday, at which point, she'll be going to a new home. I'll be sad to see her go, we've had almost 7 years and over 10k miles together (only 300 miles in the last two years).

Because I'm like that, I can also tell you that over the 7 years of ownership, she's cost an average of 53p per day to run, including the £1600 purchase price, using £1323 of fuel.

I will, of course suggest that the new owner pops in to Tigertriple for a look around

I bought a Motobatt once & it lasted just over a year on my 955i. Replaced with a Yuasa battery & it's still going strong after 3 years.

I also had (briefly) a second 955i that came with a Motobatt. Don't know how old it was but it held a charge for less than a week if not used. Replaced with a Powerline battery, which lasted 2 years with intermittent use.

Currently have a Yuasa battery on my Trophy 1200. 3 years old & still going strong.

To be fair, as London_phill says, any mid-range AGM battery will do the job. If you think about it, the charging circuit was made for a lead-acid battery, and the AGM battery is essentially a non spill lead-acid battery, so you can't go far wrong.

The most important thing is to have a good charge in the battery when starting, so the Sprag clutch doesn't die. Better to replace an average brand every few years than flog one to death. I had a MotoBatt on mine for a few years, and it was OK, but when it died, it wasn't worth the differential to a midrange AGM.

Greetings all,

I have been using the Motobatt batteries for my last few replacements, finding the double terminal setup to be really convenient(see my post about installing a Fuzebox), and the batteries had previously been long-lasting. Unfortunately, the last one I had purchased failed after only one season, and the two local dealers no longer carry Motobatt, as they had issues with their dealer servicing.
I wanted to stick with an AGM type battery, so decided a Yuasa would be a good choice, as they have a good reputation here in the states. Calling them and receiving excellent customer service, I discovered the original battery in our bikes was a YB14LA2, supplied by Yuasa. This has been replaced with a newer AGM type, which is a YTX14-AHL-BS. It has 210 CCA, and has the positive terminal on the left as you face the front of the bike, which is where I need it on my bike.
The very nice lady at Yuasa told me that they sell the exact same battery to Battery Mart, part #MOSM62H4L, where it is known as a Motocross brand. Price was only $89.95 with free FedEx shipping (you have to choose it from the drop-down menu as UPS is the charged default), which is about $40 less than most other retailers. I have one on the way, and will report back in the future as to its longevity.
