There's a couple of other programs, TigerTool and DealerTool. I've no experience with DealerTool and while I have a copy of TigerTool, the OBD cable I have is not compapble (LonLec), so I've never used it. It may work for your bike, but again I haven't used it on a 955i.

The software is free but you need to be a member of tiger800.co.uk forum to access it.

The software is currently at v3.3 and allows you to:

  • Reset the service interval and clear the 'service due' wrench symbol from the instruments
  • Configure ABS / TPMS menu items & default distance units for the instruments
  • Read & clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
  • Read & clear ABS DTCs
  • Bleed ABS brake modulator
  • Check throttle body balance
  • Read, enable/disable & program TPMS sensors
  • Erase Immobiliser/TPMS DTCs and monitor live TPMS data
  • Read VIN, ECU serial & engine map reference codes

I guess my question is, Is TuneECU the only way to reset this?

There has been server issues over the past few days according to the TuneECU Facebook group.

Unless you can get hold of an old windows version of TuneECU, just can only suggest waiting for the server issue to be sorted  sorry.

I cannot get TuneECU to register, there is a server problem. Is this the only way to reset the TPS? There must be another way.

To be fair, I could probably do all the service myself, except 'offically stamp the book', and reset the service indicator. I've done the valves etc, for the Tiger 955i, Daytona and Trophy without problems, so it's not beyond my capabilities.

The garage is spaceous enough, dry and currently warm, but with the continuing saga of Daysie Daytona's electrics, I'm not sure I can be arsed with spending the day in the garage.

Maybe I'm just getting lazy.  :bad

Mines near 24k too, but my tactic is I'm not going to do the clearances, and see what happens. I may do it myself in the winter, as my new garage is not damp and remote like my old one, so I can do it over a period of time.

Been a little lax of late, so here's a small update.

She's been serviced (21,444), washed and made ready for summer fun. Now showing 21,600 miles and not too far off the dreaded 24k mile service, I've been getting a few quotes to find out if I need to start saving.

The most expensive quote so far, and not from a dealer was 'approx. £1000'. I've also had £795+, not including valves & shims if they need doing.

The best quote so far is from Muddysump (from his web site) of £470, plus if I want fluids changed, which I do, an additional £50. The last big service (12k) was done by him, with me just doing the intermittant annual service, so I think I'll be contacting him shortly to see if I can book his services.

I know it's still 2400 miles off but I'm likely to do this over the summer if I manage to get away for my usual week riding aimlessly around the South West later this year.

Electrickery / Re: Loose coil-spark plug conn...

Forgot to mention, the spring in each coil actually does not grip the top threads of the spark plug, though it does encircle them.

The solid contact with the top of the plug is made during the bolting down of the coil; the downward pressure of the coil loads the spring against the flat 'shelf' that runs around the base of those tiny top threads. That is the spring seat when assembled.

When running the primary test on my coils, I was metering .4-.5 ohms resistance. Considering that .1 ohms of that is attributable to my Klein test leads, .3 ohms resistance is quite out of the .7-.9 Triumph spec.

I went ahead and ordered a set of coils from RM Stator. Being in the state of Washington, their Colorado headquarters will have the set to me in two days.

Until now, I never thought of coils as wearing out. Always learning.
