Title: How you feel about your Tiger
Post by: Bob Tosi on May 26, 2010, 06:42:02 AM
I walked out of a store tonight on the way home and saw my Steamer sitting there and thought.....There'd only one of these in my town.....Damn that is a really bad ass looking bike!  It makes me feel powerful when I ride it.  Sounds silly I know but I love my Steamer.

Just buy another SIN, to get the set.....
You leave it too long and you might have to buy 2.  :?

I love mine too.

It feels similar to a range rover to my mind.....  High riding position, big, strong, torquey, robust, on road, off road, comfy for passengers etc...

Am seriously thinking about letting my beautiful '99 Daytona go to allow me to pick up another Steamer.

Anyone want to buy a Daytona?  8)

When I take my bike for granted, someone stops their own bike to pull in next to me at the gas station to say "WOW, that's an incredible bike!"  OR some guy walks over and says "you don't see many women riding a bike like THAT!"  OR some woman comes over to say "that's the prettiest motorcycle I've ever seen!"  It's impossible to forget that I'm riding an awesome piece of design and machinery for long.

I'm actually still giddy about it.  LOL  We sold our convertible Camaro (with a gas guzzling, Corvette engine) before buying the bike.  I LOVED that car!!!!  My husband asked, if you could have the Camaro back or keep the Tiger, which would you rather have?  Hands down... the Tiger.   :XXsunsmile

I never get that being a guy.

I get the curious looks at my Lucifer Orange tiger, but the ego's of a Harley heavy area prevent any further investigation on their part

Quote from: "95tiger"Most comments come from old guys ....who used to ride a triumph

EXACTLY... they see the name on the side then start talking about their old bike wondering where in the hell Triumph went wrong with your "Tiger" monstrosity :)

My husband says he never gets any comments on his 1050 Tiger either.  When we're together, all the attention seems to go to my bike.  He commented on that a few rides ago.  My license plate probably invites people to talk to me more.

A couple weekends ago, we were at a stoplight and a truck pulled up next to Scot and asked him what he paid for his bike, though.

Mine makes me very happy for several reasons.

1) Because I'm part of a very special community

2) It takes me everywhere I want to go, on road, off road, dirt tracks, et.al.

3) Old guys always ask about it and then begin to reminisce about the "old days".

4) 40K miles and it still runs like a top.

5) It's unique

6) It has real character

7) That triple sound

8) It's just like me; it ain't perfect, but it is lovable

After a looooong icecold winter and spring, I have now been out riding the Tiger again :D . Very often when I stop for gas or a leg stretch, people stop by and comments that I have a nice bike, and that its a seldom seen bike!

And how I feel about it and riding it? Its like being a Male Cat during Springtime :love10

You know thats an interesting heading, the problem being 'I've just bought a Tiger it's the best thing since sliced bread' jeeze i've read a million times, only to be followed 12 months down the road with some old tosh about why they have sold it zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I've had my 955 9 years this year, bought new and much modified, but when it come to covering ground ie anything between 300 to a 1000 miles there is nothing, absolutely nothing that will come close to it,and i say that with 3 other bikes in the garage that all have their plus's,and hence why untill another bike turns up capable of taking it's place it is used sparingly, with a mate who owns a Ducati dealership I must get round to riding a Multistarda.

What i do find interesting despite what you hear from the GS lot very rarely do you find a walker and talker,i recently bumped into a couple of GS guys who were prepared to show what they'd got, baring in mind i was two up and fully loaded, against two GS1200's both one up and no luggage, the next time they come across a Tiger they'll be very wary

I think the Girly and Steamer are ;

1) "Marmite bikes" to the motorcyclists
2) Strange looking yet somehow both attractive and interesting (like Barbra Streisand) to everyone else..

Tigers, "hhmm", can I just say I have owned over Twenty bikes since I started riding, my last bike a Yamaha Fazer 1000 and "ooooh" was that fast and comfortable but had no soul.
I have never missed a bike before but have loved a few, till I got back on a Tiger I realised what Iv'e missed, these bikes have soul and more, fastish comfy and bring a smile to my face every time I look/ride it.

Yes I can honestly say they are the best bike in the world.

BIG smiling BILL :)  :)  :)  :D

Like EB, I smile smile every time I walk in to the garage and see my Tiger.

I came to riding late (50) and have only been riding a few years.  I started out on the bike of my youthful dreams, a Honda Nighthawk (well, its descendant anyway   ) but once I had learned enough to ride for longer jaunts it quickly became apparent I needed something with more leg room.

I don't know how I lucked into the the Tiger and the deal I got but I sure have not regretted it.  When I first got the bike I knew it was way more bike than I had the skills for.... but that motor     I was hooked.

I know the Girly is this big ol' goofy looking thing - even more so with me on board!     But it is so cool to know I have all of this capability at my disposal.  I don't have the experience with multiple bikes like many of you.  So I will just have to take for word for it.   :hello2

ack

I owned a Tiger 110 back in 65'  (Geez - where'd my life go ?... ) & was looking at Tigers again when I bought my Uly. (No regrets - its a collectors item now) but the Tiger kept scratching at my consciousness. So last year when a pristine 06 silver w/ 3K mi, was 'on the block' - I just couldnt resist. I looked at a Roadie, but too close to the Buell in looks & function. The Girlies do have a kinda 'goofy' appearance, with that deflated camel hump gas tank, but thats also their attraction. Ya certainly don't see one on every corner. I've only run into 2 locally (figuratively speaking) while passing about 10,000 HDs. The Palmer brackets & screen do provide alot better wind protection & add a bit more of an ADV bias to its looks. I got it primarily as a "spare" for when the Uly has a mechanical  upheaval. But got to appreciate the Tiger so much, now I just alternate. Now I'm in luv with 2 bikes -  Hmmm - must make me a poly sumthing??

Blasphemy!

I look forward to every trip to the garage. If it's along haul, gravel road trip or exploring with my wife it's Tigger and it still looks good, even with the new Adventure bikes around the place.

But for those days midweek when the beautiful roads around here are empty nothing hauls arse like the Daytona. Sure there are faster bikes but I've yet to find another sportsbike that can still hang with the dayglo crowd, trackday and log a 1000 kilometer plus day if the mood takes me.

Edited to add: I love the way old men and little kids want to talk to me about Tigger and young women stop and talk to me about that amazing snot green paint.

...hate looking at the goofy thing, but love riding it.  Wish there was an easy way to get a better front suspension bolted on.

Recently spent four 500 mile days carving up Colorado at 2x speeds with a couple friends (who are both more than capable on the twisty stuff) on their 1050's, started the ride jealous, finished it very much satisfied that in the sub-90 mph stuff the 955i is still rock solid. ...have now removed my hero pegs.

Some statements of great insight, not to be as so bold as to say, profound.  :><

I love the phrase "mechanical upheaval"
Just tidying up pre Christmas jobs before New Year.
Then the "Granite steamer" will hit the road fully licensed, as it's our summer down here
