I'm guessing we're talking first three weekends IN JULY?
I was wondering that and getting nervous that we were going in January....
First three weekends are free in July for me too.
Yes July, I'm ok earlier if we fancy June, but after the 25th I'm in Poland
I'm up for this... July is good :bad, I was near Dragons back recently is that the one at the rear of the Castle inn pub on the A479?- it was on my list of cheap sites but went for Pyscodlyn farm site instead coz I was going too fast and missed it... that was OK too, basic but maybe too family friendly for a large number of noisy, sweaty bikers (but just 6 quid a night :augie)
The Dragons Back looks good :thumbs up
Have a look at this campsite too http://www.blossompark.co.uk
Another forum I am a member of, they have camped there over the last 2 years. Think the golf course does a great breakfast too.
Rhayader would be a good base? Some nice riding roads,Elan valley dams. There is a good campsite a short walk out of the town..www.wyesidecampsite.co.uk A few pubs, hotels.
Or base it further north,Snowdonia? I stopped in Llangollen on the way back from Scotland,I thought that might be a good place? What about rideouts? Have one on Fri and Sat,or just Sat?
I was hoping we'd find a base in a fairly central location then do a ride North, South or / and central as the mood or weather permitted. So Rhayader could be useful and it is a beautiful spot. The advantage of Wales is it easier to get to for most folks compared with Fort Augustus, so perhaps more rideouts?
No probs, not to far away from Rhyader is the devils staircase, risen this once it's about a 1:4 incline
Hope this link works

This is my vid, http://vid4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/DaveBelton/bike%20stuff/devilsstaircase-hairpin.mp4
It's narrow, and steep
Yeah, and the Abergwesyn pass just below
That looks fun, and I need the practice on hairpins

You need to be looking at the area between the dams and Tregaron,Llangollen is great so long as you don't mind dealing with all the weekend power rangers.

Well,if we base the meet somewhere in mid-Wales,we'll ride it. The Dragons Back PeteH suggested looks OK? I could go check it out. That would be a good spot to ride the Beacons,Elan valley etc. Not to far from the coast either. North..Snowdonia might be a push tho, unless we had 2 rideouts?

The coast, I live about 40 minutes from the Gower. :icon_biggrin: but that's too far south for the rest of the Tiger Owners.
Should be a Devilish ride out..... Devils back, devils staircase why not add the devil bridge falls :augie http://www.devilsbridgefalls.co.uk/
I will need to work things out closer to the Time as I am looking to go on holiday abroad in July 2015
All sounds good to me. Love Wales and have grown up loving north wales..originally coming from Chester and have had great memories of both mid and South Wales an all. Can fit in with any dates (sure the mrs will be ok) so count me in.
So is this a camping thang? as I'm not really a B&B/Hotel type, I suppose I could be tempted towards a bunkhouse in adverse conditions. I much prefer being under canvas/polyester and cooking on a single burner, I can't be out in all that nature and hide in a box :blah :icon_lol:

Thats why I looked at the Dragons Back...options for all three to keep everyone happy, the other options Threepots in Ryader... close to the town and so B & B`s, theres also one or two in Snowdonia, even one with its own micro brewery :nod
All sounds good! :thumbsup
Had a ride out today to check some roads for the Wales meet. Depends where we base it?? If its based at the Dragons back, there's plenty of nice riding roads in that area. I rode up to Llandovery,Llyn Brianne dam,Tregaron,Devils Bridge,Elan Valley,Eppynt mountain range. A nice route if we base down here? Snowdonia would be nice too,but doing both in one day might be a push?unless we had 2 rideouts? Up to you guys??? I stopped in Devils bridge,at the Hafod Hotel. A nice Victorian style place. They can accommodate us and the bikes for lunch. www.thehafodhotel.co.uk. Nice road from there to Elan Valley:-) Will check out the Dragons Back tomorrow.
When I was there I passed Dragons back on the way to the site in Crickhowell, T'was a good road, I then hit the A40 to Haverfordwest which was also good in most places except for the dual carriageway bits, The Dragons back had no signs to identify itself, but I recognised it from the website as the Castle Inn. Thanks for your time TP, sounds like a good excuse for some two wheeled sex as well. :bad
Called at the Castle Inn (Dragons Back) yesterday after visiting the local Guzzi club just outside Abergavenny with a friend. Strange meet really..2 turned up on 1200 Explorers, there were 2 BM's and about 4 Guzzi's. They used to hold meets at the Castle Inn. Apparently there are new owners there, but they are closed Sunday :icon_scratch: One chap in the Guzzi's club said he'd heared relatively good reports about quality of food and accommodation, but the owner is a bit of an oddball..whatever that means :icon_eek: I must say I wasn't overley impressed by my first impression of the place, and because they were closed, couldn't have a good look around. Its very isolated. Personally,I would prefer a town location, with a selection of Pubs. What do you lot think?
Oddball = strange one... I do isolated, or quiet towns :thumbsup not a drinker so not really bothered either way. Didn't think we would need much outside entertainment (depending on how many turn up) Maybe Sin can give us a talk on Landrovers? :icon_razz:

Not wanting to step on anyones toes here, but this place is one of my watering holes, good beer and food, and a decent camp site....Its where the Taffy Daker boys stay.....lovely spot.

More or less in between Swansea and Brecon on the A4067.

Another good option. Pass it most w'ends lol. The Lamb and Flag in Rhayader was recommended to me today. They have just added a bunkhouse with a kitchen that sleeps 8. Good campsite there too. Long way to go,but were up to 3 Inc PeteH suggestion. I rode thru Llanidloes recently. Looked like a nice town? Great roads/location there:-).

I missed out on the scotland trip last year, so I am keen to join you fellas next year .................. however, the only weekend I can make is the 3-5 July one, which is looking good at the moment if the vote is anything to go by. Unfortunately, one of my bucket list items is to see AC/DC live and the only date near me is Wembley on the 4th july. Bugger.
Tickets are on sale tomorrow, do I wait and hope they announce more dates???
:BangHead :BangHead :BangHead
The tiger meet in Scotland was great and I'm hoping Wales will live up to that too, it was good to put faces to folk on here. There will be other concerts only one Tiger meet.
I had the same quandary, decided to give ACDC a miss, however, I'll be at Cadwell that weekend so I may not make the Tiger meet.

I was kinda thinking the other way, it may be my only chance to see em but there'll be a tiger meet in 2016.
Anyway, they sold out in an hour, didn't manage to get to a computer in that hour.
I'm not gonna vote on the weekend, in case I influence the vote then manage to see 'em and don't turn up to the tiger meet.
You'll only see half of them, one's in an old folks home and one is about to be banged up for conspiracy to murder :ImaPoser
Hi all. New year is fast approaching. Are we still on for a Wales meet? I'm easy on the date if so,but maybe we should start deciding on the date?
I'm good for any of the dates as long as i give enough notice, so like The Threepot suggests, it would be good if we can bottom out the dates in early 2015! :thumbsup
By the way, whereabouts are we going again?? :^_^
So to give those with better things to do a chance to come how about making it the 10th to 12th weekend?
Im easy...I`ll let you guys decide then fall in line
It would have been amazing if we all rode up to see ACDC. Maybe a good thought for another year...?

I'll give AC/DC a miss, I don't have me cut off denim jacket anymore and the CB750 chop and the long hair have long gone :icon_lol: July 3-5 IS better for me but I can probably swing things to the 10-12th if need be... I may get a bit of ear-ache but I'm sure it would be worthwhile :bad
I'd like to get the date firmed up soon if we can otherwise the diary starts filling up pretty rapidly. 10-12 Jul is already definitely out for me now so we'll see how it goes.
Threepot, if you get time could you PM those that attended last year and get them to vote? Once we have a dozen or so we can pick the date and plan around it.
Hi BB,can do,but I don't know who exactly turned up at the last meet? I'm easy on thhe date, but I appreciate others need to fit in. Thinking of basing it in Rhayader?? Good camp site there, good pubs, and a few hotels. A friend knows someone who has a pub there thats just added a bunkhouse,so that offers more choice. Already made enquiries regarding lunch on thhe ride out at Devils Bridge, and planning a route that takes in some nice riding roads. So the guy's need to take some action on dates.

The best weekend for me is July 18th as it's a rostered long weekend. The following weekend is doable. Unfortunately July 3/4th is a no go. And 10/11th is my local TOMCC "Rabbit" rally. Never mind. :icon_cry:
:iagree Wyeside looks OK for me, being a canvas person (well, my tent is polypropylene actually but you'll get my drift).
Now that CRMC have firmed up the dates I will be at Brands Hatch on the 3-5th so have a good time guys, I'm out. :icon_confused:
How about the 17to 19th then........we need to pick a date soon, preferably with the most people going. I'm easy for any of the dates except the last week end.

Lets see if we can get the best turn out yet with this years get-together! :icon_cool:
So what IS the count up to now, I'm in - providing a change of date doesn't spoil things.
Sorry for the slow reply guys. Can do any date but would rather avoid the last weekend as i get the caravan ready the first week of august's family holiday. I did it last year but i'd rather not.
Its all gone very................Quiet :wave
Next time we arrange something we should use an online meeting organiser like Doodle. It really would cut out a lot of fuss.
I'm easy for any weekend at the moment btw.
I've not come across Doodle (I'll check it out) but I think we need something, if not only to keep Threepot sane, we need to nail a date and keep to it. :nod
I'm happy with 3-5th, but 10-12th has now become available, 17-19th has been pre-booked by my missus so that's out for me.
I've tried to find out who voted for what in the poll but the webware doesn't allow that.
So after reading the whole post again, as far as I can see we have :
3-5th - preferred by Jaydub, Nick Calne, maybe GavD
10-12th - Me
17-19th - Black Tiger
Any: John Stenhouse, Nick Calne, Jaydub, Micko, XJC, Mat-Tiger-1, Pete H
It's looking like 3-5th then :^_^
BB
I've not said I'm a definite for 3-5th yet, but it's looking good, as long as the old AC/DC boys don't come up with some other dates for UK concerts that will clash. I've not voted because i don't wanna influence it then poss not make it.
Hope that clears up my position.
Noted....
Booking my jollies at the moment and have the 3rd - 5th reserved, flights etc are shifting fast so flexibility will now be limited

What have you & Threepot got in store for us? :^_^ :ImaPoser
I'm in Wales twice this year already for Pembrey and Anglesey and I'm resigned to missing this one so lets go hard on 3-5th.
There, that wasn't so hard was it? Threepot, over to you..... Don't be slow to ask the others for help where needed. :thumbsup
Well done Bob. Sometimes someone's just got to call it.
3rd-5th it is then. I've listed the campsite, just a 5min walk from the town, and 1 hotel. There are others available if thats your thing? Do you need me to check them out? Or you can search on the net? Anyone interested in the bunkhouse? I've sort of got a route sorted for a rideout, which will take in a stop for lunch if you want? Snowdonia would've been nice, but mid-Wales is great too. Think the two in 1 day might be too much? Any thoughts? I'm open to discussion
Shame you can't make it BB :icon_frown
We'll miss the www.rhayadercarnival.co.uk on those dates,so that may be a good thing?
Quote from: threepot on January 22, 2015, 04:24:43 PMThink the two in 1 day might be too much?
As for the double ride-out, I suppose it depends on the mileage - but we are on the perfect bike for it - I don't mind a 'double header' I'm happy with the campsite, it all looks good to me TP, thanks for your effort :thumbsup
Would we all meet up at a particular point or join the tiger train along the way?
It all looks a bit quiet on the AC/DC front, so I've taken a decision. I'm in for the 3-5th. I've booked the fri/mon off work so I can make the most of it.
I'm looking at probably camping as it looks close to the town (pubs). My old tent is looking a bit tired so I'm thinking of investing in a slumit tent. Anyone else got one?
Also what's the policy in dragging non-tiger riders along? Got a couple of fellas interested in getting off our little rock for a run.
