Ok, it's 3-5 Jul in Wales. this is for general banter and knocking about, the serious stuff is on the other thread.
In answer to mat-tiger1 last question..plan is ..... ride to Wales, drink plenty of nice beer, eat plenty of nice food, ride around Wales a bit, more beer and food, then ride home! :augie
Any of you guys coming down earlier than the 3rd? If so,we could visit
http://royalwelsh.org.uk/regimental-museum-of-the-royal-welsh.shtml
Lot of stuff there from Rorkes Drift, well worth a visit. We could take it in on the Saturday, but it means less riding that day.

You mentioned Beer twice in the same sentence, I reckon that constitutes an official endorsement :thumbsup
I would LOVE to track down a pint of Felifoel's Double Dragon, tried some in the late 80's when the Navy sent us up to Talybont to beast us around the Brecons. Need to see if it is as nice as I remember!! :occasion14

[/quote I camped there last year, and drank in most of the pubs :friday I cant remember Felinfoel, but the beer was decent. If only I could get a barrel in my topbox....... :bad
I still need to know who's staying where. Anyone interested in the bunkhouse? I could make enquiries about booking it? I have been given the owners details by her friend whoI know .
Gavd..I'll bring you some cans :thumbsup Did you know, that beer was the first to be canned in the UK.

Go easy on Ivor, he`s just completed a dry January so has some catching up to do :bad
As for riding I`ll check in with Threepot, but as we`re centrally based its either the Brecons or cut across country doing the Dams to Aberystwyth then find some nice tarmac.... easy enough in Wales :nod
Guys, can I suggest that you open a separate "general chat" thread for the meet and keep this one for just the facts and serious discussion about routes accommodation etc. It's hardly encouraging to anyone thinking of joining us for the first time to have to pick through pages and pages of chat just to try to determine the plan - assuming there is one.
I'm a camper! can't see me wanting a bunkhouse :nono
Plan? that's a new concept :icon_biggrin:

I'll camp too. Unless the weather looks iffy, in which case I'll probably book a room in the nearest 5star hotel.*

My wife makes images into mugs, t-shirts, stickers etc on some online thingy. I'll ask her how it's done.

Ha! just remembered that I saw T-shirt transfer paper, but it was in the £ shop :icon_rolleyes: so maybe a bit iffy? got to worth a quid tho?
I know photobucket, vistaprint etc do them.
For those of you old enough to remember the very early days of BIKE magazine, you will recall that the then-editor, Mark Williams, was quite keen on off-road riding.
Anyhoo, in the Spring 1972 issue they did a 'Trail and Enduro Machines Giant Test' in and around the area where you lot are planning this years UK Tiger meet. I quote:
Our base for this long weekend's Giant Test was Cerrigynfol, a mercifully civilised cottage near Llanwrthl, a small village on the banks of the Wye in mid-Wales. We chose this area because most of our test riders are familiar with the tracks that proliferate in this beautiful part of Wales.
Llanwrthl is just south of Rhayader. The test (of seven of the machines then available) is an interesting read. They did not have the best of conditions!

Along with Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, I find Welsh words impossible to pronounce. I mean, who would have thought that a word spelt Cymru is pronounced 'koomri'??
Language variation is a wonderful thing. When my Hungarian partner starts talking to her kids in their native language I don't even try to follow what is being said!
Close, but its more kumry..I think? My grandfather was a fluent speaker,as was his father, who had poetry published in Welsh. But it was never passed down to my father, because my grandmother couldn't speak it.

Cracking weekend, home and dry , didn't think I'd say that after a weekend in Wales. Thanks to Three Pot for a great job of organising, good company, good weather and great roads and views.
We decided to mark the Lamb and Flag down two points on trip adviser for not having vice and g clamps on the out side benches so when we turn them into an impromptu workshop for tigers we have to hold stuff our selves, shocking really :ImaPoser
Tried two other Triumphs over the weekend a Rocket three and Mat Tigers 800 XCX, both stunning machines, the Rocket just about pulls your arms off with the torque and the new 800 is smooooooooooooooth. Thanks to both owners for the taster.
Will try to get some photos up later
How did you manage to get home dry John?
I left before you and it poured down on me :icon_cry:
Still a brilliant weekend with some stunning roads and scenery. Many thanks to Threepot for organising the weekend. Can't wait to get back later this year

:bowdown
Big thanks to TP from myself, Al(Mo) and Richard(Ted) for a great day on Saturday (which improved massively :wheel once I realised my rear tyre was a tad under pressure) and for organising accommodation for us. It was great to meet all the guys I've known only by their forum names for a few years. It made the 3 of us realise just how limited we are on the little island, we are very jealous of you big islanders.
It was a bit strange to find out 20 mins before leaving that I went to school with the landlady of the Lamb & Flag, she is a year younger than me, and I didn't remember her, but Richard did .................... spooky!!
We got to Southampton for 2.15 and stayed bone dry. 3pm ferry, & home for about quarter past 4. 610 miles in total, which has occasionally been a years mileage in the past. I've realised again just how great these bikes are. Al is converted I think, keep an eye out for a new member probably going by the name of Mr Almo.
Will post some of my photos when I've downloaded them.
Cheers fellas,
Gav
Many Thanks To Three Pot!!
Great ride out on Saturday, excellent roads and views. I arrived home ok. No problems from the cracked swingarm , found a replacement on fleabay for reasonable money, so should be sorted soon.
Yup. What an amazing ride Threepot organised. Brilliant. Thank you so much.
Great to see everyone. Brilliant weekend.
Hi Graham. Yes,the rd in question is the 'Garth' rd from the Upper Chapel rd. The other one we rode with Pen y Fan facing,is the A4059 from Hirwaun. The Epynt range can be reached either from Tirabad,or Llywel,on the A40,between Llandovery and Sennybridge. Msg me when your down next on the bike.
