I usually carry a few extra tools in a little box I made that fits where the left hand pannier would be, but that means I can't put the pannier on there. So I noticed that both OEM side panniers have a bit of unusable space in there and decided to put the contents of the box in that space. Now I can have all the stuff I had in the box, in the panniers without using too much space. There's a mini compressor in the black box on the left side pannier, and in the right side pannier a syphon tube, pliers, sharp knife, puncture repair stuff, fuses, chain link remover, chain links, etc, etc.
edit: didn't have to drill new holes, etc, all done with original holes.
Nice idea, works well.
