i was just sat here bored and wondered what kindve mileage everyones bikes done and what things apart from oil filters plugs etc.. has needed changin. mines sat at the moment on 61520.0 in its life ive had to replace a head gasket (not needed as it turned out to be the ignition pick up) timin chain, timin chain guide, could do with a tensioner but my home made ones doin just fine at the mo and a clutch.
how bout yours ?
Mine had it's 30k birthday on the UK meet up.
The worse thing that's happened maintenance wise was the snapped swingarm! Other than that it's been servicing and counteracting user neglect in the past.
Would benefit from a serviced rear shock and a little attention here and there but largely OK.
just rolled 59,000 on my way into work tonight.
Mine had 53K km's when I bought it.
I put another 10K on it the last 16 months and did an overhaul.
Things that had to be replaced @ 56K:
- pickup & gasket
- chain & spockets
- chain slider & swingarm protection
- plugs
- oil
- front rotors
- all pads
'06 at 26,000.
Nada, zilch, nOTHING!!
Though I've been through one set of tyres and brakes, two sets rear pads, Triumphs like to wear through those.
Still have the original battery, and all lamps, save the h'lights, I upgraded.
Cosmo
06' at 22k nothing but tyres and oil, filters and pads cheers Spud
01, 32,000 miles, female fuel connectors
@ 60K I did some farkling:
- LED's everywhere except the headlights
- Trophy casted 3 spoke wheels (see post elsewhere)
- Pilotroad 2's 130 front & 180 rear 8)
- Yamaha petcock retrofit (see post elsewhere)...this one doesn't leak !
- rear hugger
She's now @ 63K & more farkles:
- Voltmeter & relais installed
- Nice gold tinted H4's (stands really out in all the xenon around so I'm noticed)
Also, chain has to be tensioned.
August 22 I'm off to the Harz (Germany) with her on a 2K trip.
Cheers
M
54,000 miles on one of the 2001 model press launch bikes, so first of the girlies out of the factory.
The only things that have failed are the stator, inlet manifold gasket and a coil.
One of the windings on the stator failed, still outputting 14v to the battery but not enough ooomph to actually charge it. We needed a 'scope to detect that problem as the windings were still giving good continuity through them.
The coil died at the same time or very shortly after the inlet gasket manifold died.
Apart from that everything else is just consumables.
My Tigger will be used by me until it collapses in a heap of oxidised metal
:D
49,000 miles on my 05
Head bearings 25k and reg rec at about 40k other than that routine stuff.
114,000km (71,000ml) Fuel connectors only.
2001 955i 55k miles
Had a batch of soft intake valves that would be at negative clearance at 6k intervals. When shims were not thin enough I replaced the head with a used one.
I am having a continuing fuel gauge problem that is heat related. Need to find time to figure it out using a heat gun to locate the problem area.
Bike burns oil a bit, but I am convinced it is going out the breather and getting sucked up through the air box and down the intake. Might come up with my own breather, separator design.
Still no other bike on the market that I would trade her for.
86,000 miles,
Just about completed a complete rebuild, only because of the self inflicted injuries by previous muppets that had been servicing, or not, her.
Mine is at 72,000.
Timing chain @ 49,000 (for good measure and on a recommendation. Better to be safe than sorry).
I changed the clutch @ 35,000 miles as I had no idea of its condition or how it had been used (it would have probably lasted until 100k, tbh).
The wiring loom was in a real state, especially around the headstock, so I completely rewired the bike.
The pilot jet needles became one with the rest of the carbs, so they were binned and replaced with Keihin.
Mines done around 37k, head bearings done at 18k(MOT job??) and the head gaskets been done due to the cold weather weeping at the rear of the cylinders, Fault in the wiring loom from the clutch switch..not bad in 7 years of ownership...touch`s wood
Done about 28000 miles, other than service stuff I had to replace the battery, chose to replace the rear shock and head races at 24k service.
My '96 steamer has 54.000 miles on it, I have done 49, 250 of them. I bought her at 5 years old.
The exhausts were replaced with Motads when the welds on the welds were giving up (lots of salt on the roads here). The coil pick up was replaced at about 30,000 miles, may be due another soon. The regulator was replaced at about 40,000 miles. Rear disc at about 35,000 miles as the brake was not releasing fully. A hagon shock went on at 35,00 miles, and another one at 51,000 miles. Progressive springs replaced the originals at 40,000 miles, and are now starting to feel a bit soft, probably need new oil. Swing arm cracked at the pinch bolt at 52,000 miles , just before a trip to Germany, was replaced with a silver one from a breaker. I don't do as much commuting on her as I used to, so I now do about 4,000 miles per year.
60 something thousand and as posted here rings cos I let it go low on oil and new stator regulator , absolutely love this thing and can't part with it.
1996 Tiger, Black, just under 32,000 miles. I'm one of many owners, it seems (I have no idea why).
- Rear shock replaced at 29,000 with a Sasquatch rebuild with gold valve. This is the single best-value-for-the-money upgrade I think anyone can do for their Tiger.
- Carbs were rebuilt by the dealer after I got it.
- Checked the valves this winter: all of them within spec, no adjustments needed.
This is the second 96 Triumph I own: the first is a Sprint with 45,000 miles. Brought that one back from the dead: hit a 9-point buck at 50 mph at 28,000 miles. I checked her valves this winter and only replaced 2 exhaust shims by one setting. She runs as well as when I got her (and can beat the tiger).

just rolled 60000 on the way to work last night 8)
its good when a ten thousand mark comes round aint it. :D got just over 1900 miles to do on mine at the end of the month. gunna be a good ride
got my baby sep 2008 with 26,000 km on her, on the 22,03,2012 we toped 100,000 km :D
My 2006 Girly is on for 38,000 miles.
2000 885i with nearly 60,000kms on her- got rid of my car and now use her as my primary transport - smiling like a loon everyday on the way to work - even in the rain!!

Got my 2001 Girly in 2002 with 8000 miles on the clock. Put it into storage end of 2007 with 77000 miles on it and the gasline plugs and a clutch cable were the only things that broke. Changed the oil and put gas in and rode it to get there... Got back for a visit in 2011, put a new battery in, added some fresh gas, started her up and went for a another 1500 miles or so during my 10 day stay... :D :D :D
Got me a 1994 steamer in Germany in 2008 with 108000 km (63000 miles), that had been sitting on the side of the road for several years. New plugs, new oil, new gas, using a car batt: vroom!!! :D Took me a year to find the time to get through German inspection. It has 138000 km on the odo now. Again only plugs, oil, gas used... The DAR was taken care of before my time.
I love 'em both!!!!! 8)

Are you coming to the Katzenrally in June since the ADV meet won't take place this year??
My '94 Steamer will crack 58,000 miles on the way home later.
Bought a year ago with just over 50k on it; last owner put a new Hagon shock on it just before the sale. I've replaced front brake pads, seals and needed new discs for the MOT this year (one was cracked), other than that its had an oil change (and top ups when needed).
Love it 8)
I have an 01 with 21K on it. It seems to be the lowest mileage 01 on here thus far!! I have done all the regular maintenance to make sure it was all done. Nothing has broken during my ownership so far. I had to replace the handle bars from being bent from the PO.

An 01 and if you haven't done the female fuel connectors, your on borrowed time!!!
still new to the tiger as ive only had her a few months but
mines an 02 with 46 thousand miles previous owner snapped a chain , but with no real history i decided to put another set on for good measure.
fuel connectors have been done but im thinking of installing a stainless steel set for good measure :D
charging system is healthy even on the STD set up and ive just re-built front and rear callipers as this seems to be the only thing the previous owner slacked on :?
its a great bike and im loving it :headbang :D

70,000 and still running good. :icon_salut:
'99 Yellow 885efi
80,500 miles.
Mostly original barring service stuff.
Repaced both front & rare wheel bearings, also head bearings.
Just swapped forks for 955 set (mine were really sloppy) to cure brake judder.
Even the voltage reg \ rect is original but shes on her third battery.
65,370 currently, doing about 5,000 miles per year. So I have now ridden over 60,000 miles on her since I bought her in 2001. Still plenty of fun . I regard the paint chips and such like as patina. They just show loving use.
Mines at 32.5 k at the moment, when I insured it last month the broker said after I told him the mileage, "it's good to hear someone actually use's their bike" :bug_eye would love to get it to the 100k mark
Just had new chain and sprockets, the Reg died on me on a trip to Scotland but that's been the only problem
cheers Spud :thumbsup
Not quite, these Girly's are known for having Eagle problems :icon_wink:
35,140 miles on the '98 Tiger
