As I said to you in the PM,that 955 thats in the forsale section thats the best priced 955 I've seen for many a day,or anyone else looking for one,a few years ago the backside fell out of the market for 955's then of recent has stiffened up,but I would have thought you'll be going some to get a mag wheel in decent nick for less than three and a half.

:iagree

How much do you expect to pay for a clean one?

As you have found out the cheaper ones need some work, you will probably spend as much cleaning up a cheaper one....But there again it's only dirt and elbow grease. Mine was a fair bit under list but after a few hours, (ok I have all the chemicals and a steam cleaner) it looked like it just came from the showroom.

I would consider the last of the spoked wheel model tiger's,not sure the colour black does the tiger justice?looking to spend approx 3k

Plenty to choose from at that price but dealer prices are strongest, ebay or bike trader are giving plenty of choice for that money.

Sounds like a good deal from a stealer.

Could wait a month or three and a better deal can be had.

Thing is if you like the bike then it is a good price.

Have a close look at the front of the engine and rads for clean paint and condition and the wheel hubs for silver alloy colour and not black dirt corrosion.

OR...pass us the dealer web address so we can all have a look...More eyes and opinions always count.

Give it a few weeks and the markets yours, but I still reckon the £2300 Black one looks a bargain as others have said, but if black aint your colour.......

Looks quite sound, right on the change to mag wheels, powder coat frame is much better than the silver paint. If you do veiw, look under the sump for dirt/damage as dealers never do clean the sump plate.

Do YOU like it???

Go and have a look and go away for a cuppa, think about it, and if it is you then buy it.

It looks good in the pics but you will see far more in the flesh as it were.

Planning to view next weekend, but if it sells it sells.it's over 100 miles from me,already blown best part of £100 today with fuel & trailer hire,so budget is diminishing all the time, just wish sellers were a little more honest with there descriptions

Well you've been on a learning curve today,I had mine in the mid eighties when I got dragged up to Lancaster having spoken to guy in the morning and by the time I got there mid day he'd sold, and vowed I'd never travel more than 50 miles to see a bike.

The red one you have shown photos of,gel seats?? their a waste of time, yea yea I got sucked into the euphuria with the best of e'm rubbish, and the crash bars will make a nice scoop as your sliding down the road, you need touratech,do a search and learn why I like e'm.

Catch 22,month from now they have to give e'm away, but you'll miss the last few weeks of decent riding, but if you want a mag wheel one at what you want to pay, you'll need to be both patient and lucky.

Well looking at the price,he'll have 3 grand in his head as the bottom line,I'm a great beleaver in looking at the house or background as much as the bike,it looks out in the sticks ?so if he isn't strapped for a bob or two who knows,I've always found the best plan ask e'm their bottom line before you go,saves a lot of hassle and the same with dealers,it's always a different game when they've got you there.

For what It's worth I'd look at the other silver one with 23,000 on,at 2950 he could have any price in his head 2750/2700?? 2600

All of which look expensive against that one on here at 2350 or less!!!

It's a big ask for a newcomer to know past history, the steamer had a strong following, the 885i was introduced in 99 but wasn't the success Triumph had hoped,Triumph normally have a 4 year model cycle the 885i got dropped after 2 years and the 955 introduced.

The 955 motor was actually for the daytona, but got fitted in the Tiger a few months before, for what ever reason the secondhand prices plummeted,4 years ago you could buy a 955 cheaper than you can now, prices have stiffened up considerably as the 955 was no where near the sale success of the 1050 so it's supply and demand, the 955 wouldn't be the first bike that history and reflection have made better.

The one with WP shock on was a no brainer,it had an £800 after market shock, and the price was the going rate.

As for the one at 2900 the seller probably knows the score!! and has done his home work, and hence why I pointed out that black one here,it's cheap to the point of being suspicious, but if your set on a mag wheel one, looks were going to be interested spectators.

And just in case your thinking,I have sold bikes for a living  ,well when I had too  :(

Just as a post script,  Lings in Watton have two Girlies, one green, one orange, prices suggest they'll be there all winter

Dealers usually can wait; sooner or later someone will come along that wants what they have.  I couldn't believe how much the dealer marked up my old Trident when I traded it, and it took weeks, but eventually along came someone with cash burning a hole in their pocket and off it went.

In another life I'd go with that, but most folks hobby nowhere days is paying the mortgage,be it dealers or punters this winter the pips are really going to be squeaking, and for those with money to spend there most certainley will be bargains, and oddly enough some of the best ones I've had have come out of dealers,my XT660 that I bought 3 years ago is still fetching on ebay what I paid for it in 2008.

Yup, I count my blessings right now in being employed and solvent where many are not so fortunate but to do that I am where I am, without a garage

Another downside to this happy situation is, when I see a bargain or a sick puppy I find it hard to resist   God knows what I would be like if I was in the UK.

Speaking of which and to get back on thread, I saw a tidy blue Girly in MCS Glasgow when I was there recently, I did't look too closely for reasons previouly stated (have I mentioned I like blue bikes?) but I did notice the previous owner had used a trailer socket as a power outlet, at least I assume he wasn't towing a caravan

Yeah - generally dealers are considered to have inflated prices on used bikes, relative to private parties. I believe that is likely true in many cases. BUT...Take this crappy economy + no attachment to the bike = occassional good deal. I got my 06' Girly in Dec of 09' with 3K miles on the clock, at a Seattle BMW dealer for...(drum roll) $5500. Admittedly not much in farkles, (centerstand & xtra set of keys) but pristine machine - 20K mi later & not so pristine - but runs great!
