I will shortly be attempting to check the valve clearances on my steamer and have read about pulling cams if a change of shims is required, however I think it would be quicker with a valve shim tool, does anyone have any experience with this job or know where to get the required tool in the UK ??? Any help appreciated.
On the "steamer" you don't have to take the cams out because the shims are on top of the buckets. You'll need something to hold the valve in the down position to get the shim out from between the cam and the bucket. It's the same set up as Yamaha XSs & XJs.
If you haven't got a clue what I'm talking about don't try to do it.
