Title: radiator cover 885i
Post by: SSchultz on January 06, 2012, 06:57:40 PM
Can't find a radiator/oil cooler protection grill for my early Girly.Considering the price of those bits, definitely have to hide them away from the evil stones that wait to harm them  :D The 955 model doesn't fit,the oil cooler on 885 is on one side, vertical, while on the 955 is horizontally under the radiator.Looked on Triumph online and World of T,nothing for 885i.
Any chances to find anything to fit or do I have to test my crafting skills on it?
Thank you :icon_salut

I posted up on a commuting forum about the skid plate i am looking at, one of the guys sent me a link to a fabricator which might be of interest. they guy is well know in the bmw circles plus makes for other bikes.

might be worth contacting the guy. lasercut work,

I have a bit of expanded aluminium sheet lying about that I was going to "hand craft" (read bodge) into a guard for my 955i but after reading about someone getting a stone jammed under a guard and wearing a hole in the matrix I decided against it.

I can't say I've ever heard of anyone having a problem. Unless you're habitually riding on unsurfaced roads it should be OK without.

There is a Eastern Europe touring trip scheduled for this summer, off road and all the rest..I know you don't need that protection on UK roads(unless you're really unlucky),but I definitely gonna need it where I'm going.Still looking for a solution  :icon_study

Wonder if a Steamer one would fit?

I've seen it done with expanded ally mesh, then sprayed up with a Triumph logo and it ended up quite tidy.

Well, job is done quicker than I thought. :D   £47 later and 10minutes fixing the grilles,(radiator and oil cooler for Tiger885i are identical with the ones on Speed Triple,up to '05 or '06  ). Here's' the result:
