Title: Intake silencer foam
Post by: 97tiger885 on February 03, 2012, 05:19:31 PM
What is the purpose of the intake silencer foam?  I thought it was a dust pre-filter but the name suggests it is to reduce noise.  Do I even need the foam?

None of the local shops have anything close to this type of foam.  I see UNI has 12"x16"x3/8" sheets of coarse foam available.  Could I use this stuff?  It is not cheap...US$20 a sheet plus shipping.

I see K&N has a precharger filter that I could use for dust.

I could place this over the whole intake snorkel with a zip tie or plumber's clamp.

A third idea is that I could buy a cheap flat paper air filter and cut out the paper so that it fits the cannister.

Advice anyone?

Cool, that solves that issue.
