What's with the name "Steamer" I have read this many times, and I'm sure it refers to the Tiger, but where did it come from?

I'm not sure where the name comes from but it refers to the older shaped pre 98ish carb Tigers.

I think it refers to the non fuel injection Tiger being as old as a steam engine.
