Title: My Helmet is not so annoying
Post by: metalguru on March 21, 2012, 12:34:12 PM
Was giving my helmet a good rubbing and getting some of the crud off it when I noticed the seal between the visor and lid was broken, been wondering why water had been dripping down the inside, as the seal is also a gutter.
So delving around in the magic drawer in the kitchen that contains everything I found a roll of draught excluder.
Thinking back to the early days of full face helmets........They were draughty, noisey, wobbly, does anyone remember Nolan Guardsmen helmets? We used to seal up the visor with draught excluder to make them slightly better than open face.
With this in mind I attached the draught excluder to the lid and visor and went for my usual commute.
The results were quite amazing in the difference an old trick would have on a modern so called quiet, aerodynamic design.
The wind noise was cut by at least 50% and where I used to get the head wobbling, that has all but dissappeared to the point I can read road signs again, (thats a big bonus), The police put up speed trap signs round here when boosting their coffers.

The top line of seal is on the visor and the lower one is attached to the helmet, and it is a flip front.
