Title: Oil pressure switch spec
Post by: akendall1966 on April 12, 2012, 08:58:21 PM
Any one happen to know what the spec of the T1230074 oil pressure switch used in the later steamer engines is..

Thread / switching pressure etc... hopefully local autofactors will have something suitable rather than the expense / wait for mail order.

PS - Thread looks like 3/8 BSF but I don't have 20tpi gauge to check.

Managed to answer my own question, not sure if the switching pressure is different on the Triumph badged item. However the the thread is 3/8"BSF and physically compatible parts are:

intermotor 50520
Bosch   0 344 101 062
Delco   7954184
Delco   7954220
Delco   7954237
Delco   7954238
Delco   7954377
Delco   WS5
Land Rover   90519864
Lucas   OPS109
Lucas   SOB400
Rover   519864E1
Rover   555760

fitted to land-rover 109 & 88, rover 3.0 engines

Just fitted a Lucas SOB400 to the old steamer light is off at tickover, so can't be far off OEM spec.

Best of all 1/3 the price of the Triumph part

PS mine is a 98, switch behind cyl 3 on the top of the crankcase not underneath as on earlier models so may not be suitable for those.
