Title: Hesitation at 5k revs.

I have just been out on the '96 Steamer i recently bought.
It still holds back at 5k revs, exactly as my brother described when he road tested it before purchase.
Despite a lengthy search through the site, i can't find a solution.
I have stripped and cleaned the Mikuni carbs as described by Mr Mustang.
They have standard size jets fitted, the needles and emulsion tubes look fine, and the air screws are set correctly.
I have fitted a new genuine Triumph air box and carb to head inlet rubbers.
It has recently had new plugs and the valve clearances checked.
It has PVL coils fitted.
The only thing that appears incorrect is that items 11,12 and 13 are missing.
Would that be enough to cause the problem?

I don't know the parts exactly, but they look like the kind of thing that limits or regulates airflow to that top pipe.

I'd imagine it could cause this problem!

is the right hand side air box opening capped as in closed off ?, only one side can be open with stock setup .

the snorkel and prefilter do nothing ...........

Yep, checked that after searching and reading your posts Mustang.
Think i've checked most things you mention
I forgot to say it has as an early Trident lump, the grey coloured one, fitted.
Surely the Tiger carbs and ECU would be ok though?

I think you are going to find that you will be needing that trident ecu (igniter) and the carbs too . the tridents have different cam profiles  :wink:

I think it might be worth sticking on a dyno then.
A good operator should be able to tell me where the problem lies.
