Anyone replaced or had replaced their loom and have any idea roughly how long it would take a decent mechanic to do the work on a Girly?
Reason I ask is mine (on an 05 used daily) is looking a little shabby, I have had some charging/electrical issues and I picked up a nice condition one from a low mileage 06 a while back. Don't want to fit it myself and just want to get an idea of what a fair price was for the work would be so that I can decide if its worth doing.
1. Remove tank and front cowl 15 minutes.
2. Remove carrier and rear cowl 10 minutes.
3. Take photos so you know where everything goes 10 minutes.
4. Unplug everything 10 minutes.
5. Remove old loom? Depends on how you want to do it. Quick way is with snips 10 minutes, the hard way 20 minutes.
6. Fit new loom 30 - 60 minutes.
7. Plug everything up 10 minutes.
8. Check everything works 5 minutes.
9. Put all the bits back 30 minutes.
Never done this of course, but can't see it being that hard so the times are, I think, very generous.
My total is a max of 3 hrs. I'd be doing it myself.....

Agreed. It would be very straightforward. I'd unplug the old one everywhere rather than use snips though as you have to unplug at some stage and it might be easier with the loom attached.
Thanks for the replies, have considered attempting it myself but if it only costs me 3 hours of someone who knows what they are doings time I may just get the work done.
Also there is a sytem 4 alarm on the new loom (working?) and a system 3 on my bike at the moment which would need sorting out and I could see that being a problem with my lack of knowledge.
