Title: Brassed off with elbows.
Post by: metalguru on September 18, 2012, 01:32:01 AM
Not strictly a Tiger I know but a Steamer based engine.
Was out on the Adventurer last weekend and enjoying the reminants of the great British Summer, ok it was dry.
Saw a few wet specs appear on the visor and looked up at the sky, not a cloud to be seen?????
Looked down and saw a tell-tale sign of leaking anti-freeze. Pulled over to investigate and could see the source was the header tank under the fuel tank.
So the leak was not terminal I rode home, removed the tank and hey presto the cheap nylon elbow was busted.
No problem I thought just get on the net and order some in as the bike is not my daily ride.
Well after a couple of hours and many cups of tea, there were none to be found.

These were the elbows I was after but for some reason could only find nicely priced in CANADA?????
I know UK has gone down the pan but no brass elbows only nylon??
Ordered 4 so that I can do both the Triumphs.
The company sent me an email of apology because due to the distance involved they would take 48-72hrs to turn up.
My belief in England just slipped another notch downwards, anyone need an engineer in Texas?

Here IN the States, I found the brass elbows at the local mega-hardware emporium (Menards), BUT, I found them as part of a kit to do what I don't know and have forgotten.

Point is, you might be well served to look outside the box (while INside the mega-box : ).
