Title: Elan Valley, Rhyader. Mid Wales
Post by: chinchliffe on October 26, 2012, 04:17:13 PM
Went for a ride to the Elan Valley near Rhyader, Mid Wales this week. Weather wasn't very good but it didn't seem to matter. Saw the route in MS&L this month. The Elan Valley is like a lost world and the 'Elan Trail' (B4518) is about 16 miles long. One of those routes that gets better around every turn. Highly recommended.

When I was younger and even more stupid I walked over that dam when the water was flooding over. I found myself in the wrong side of the valley after a long days walking. It concentrates the mind beautifully when you have a heavy sac on your back and are on your own. Lovely area to visit on foot or bike.
