Does anyone know what the roads around cambletown are like I will be in the area weekend of May 25th. looking to go south via "Rest and be thankful" catching a ferry instead of going through Glasgow, (not there's anything wrong with Glasgow).
Any advice or idea's gratefully recieved.
cheers Spud :thumbsup
From what I remember, the "main" road is quite nice the other one, that's the one nearer to Glasgow as you look at the map is much smaller and almost single track in places. Apart from Cambletown there isn't a lot there. Mind you that was twenty years ago
Let me check the maps for road numbers and I'll post up. Where do you want to end up?
I understand there is a coast road down from White house's Near Tarbert towards Cambletown that is meant to be quite good. Then main road it back from Cambletown to Tarbert where i'm staying for a night.
I was just after some local knowledge before I detour that far out. I've walked in the area before but not ridden.

Did that quite a few years ago, down to Cambletown on the B842, stayed the night in Cambletown cos my mate fell off his Africa Twin and hurt his ankle, came back up on the A83, nowhere near as good a road IMO unless you go stupidly fast.
