three weeks to the off :eusa_clap
well the bikes just com back from it's 12000 mile service
everything seems to be ok
a lot quieter and smoother they did the shims and changed ten :bug_eye
is this a lot for the first service ? but that could explain the rattles it had.
my only concern is that they adjusted the chain to the book :icon_confused:
it felt tight on the way home so I promptly readjusted it to be on the slack side,
cause tiggers like it slack.
now on to the impending trip

Sounds like a good trip, enjoy and take pics!
It is a bit odd that it needed shims at just 12k, mine's done more than double that and still doesn't need any. Remember, shims are the reverse of tappets (which most of us are more familiar with) shim gaps get smaller and quieter with age because the valve / valve seat wears so the valve sits deeper in the head so noise is ok.
I wouldn't let it spoil your trip though, forget about it and ride :icon_cool:
French national motor museum, used to be the Schlumf collection at Mulhouse, just half an hour from Freiburg. Worth going if you like cars in general and Bugattis specifically, I loved it.
Bugatti Royale a £10 million pound car, they had three when I was there :bug_eye

Personally, as a Francophile, I'd make the second leg further west and make more of the trip on N and D roads. You're not trying for a huge mileage so they would be fine.
I've never pre-booked accommodation as I hate to be committed in that way......
