Title: #1 @ TDC for clutch removal
Post by: TR5TRIDER on August 24, 2013, 02:12:40 AM
I have been lurking on this list for a while and this is my first post. Going to upgrade alternator drive shaft w/ T1220800 kit on  my '96 steamer that has developed DAR. Question: when reading shop manual it is clearly necessary ( on 4 cylinder eng.)to set #1 piston @ TDC & mark balancer gear to preserve balancer timing.  I am unable to determine if this applies also to the 3 cylinder. Can one of you most esteemed listers set me straight on this?

Thanks
Rider

Not necessary ....the balancer is driven by the gear on the lhs. Of the crankshaft.
The alt. Drive shaft has nothing to do with the balancer on a 3 cylinder
