Will a rear shock for a 2001 Tiger not fit a 2006? I know the swingarms are different, but everything else should be the same, right?
Thanks...
Wrong!!! Different length

Chris,
Any idea which is the shorter? If the 2001 is the shorter it could be a good way of lowering the later model for the short of leg. They both seem to be fitted the same way.
2001 model:- http://www.worldoftriumph.com/triumph_motorcycle_parts_locator.php?block_01=&block_02=303961&block_03=23605

If I'm honest can't remember!! but I think the early version is shorter but what is inside is anyones guess,as I've had pointed out to more than once Triumph hadn't got an F'ing clue what they were doing when they built the rear of the bike, they do now on the new stuff earlier :icon_sad:
I'll measure mine.
My original 2001 shock measures 37cm eye to eye.
If you look at a late model shock you can see the casting is longer on the bottom how much longer?? Bixxer??
I'll try to remember to measure mine when I get home tonight :thumbsup
While up to my neck in mud and alligators with my Ohlins suddenly realised I've had this in my favourites for god knows how long.

Well that says all Girlie955 2001~06 shocks are the same. Not sure about that. Need proof. Bixxer! Get the tape measure out.
Think the guy means it in a literal sense the shocks are the same as in 'The shock' it's the casting at the bottom that's different.

Not sure what you mean by that. It's black and white. Either they're the same or they're not. The photo on your link showed two shocks. One from an 885 and one from a 955. The parts lists, however, show two different part numbers.
Early Girly http://www.worldoftriumph.com/triumph_motorcycle_parts_locator.php?block_01=&block_02=304087&block_03=23772
Later Girly http://www.worldoftriumph.com/triumph_motorcycle_parts_locator.php?block_01=&block_02=1000147&block_03=232917
Waste time going off parts numbers!!! the pipe on an 885i is a different part number from a 955 despite being exactly the same part, check all the body panels for such I bet their different as well but 885i fits my 955 bike just perfect.
Re the shock difference is just the casting at the bottom,BM did the same with the 1100s.
Finally found mine, an 05 OEM shock, 400mm centre to centre.

Hmmm. 3cm difference where it mounts probably equates to about 15cm at the spindle. Oh well. :icon_scratch: :nono
Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping to buy a good aftermarket shock for my 2001 and later swap it over to a low mileage '05 or '06. Oh well.
